Kendra Luna's Haiti Prayer Requests - Sept 24, 2010
                                                    from: Samuel & Kendra Luna
Greetings!

Kendra Luna is requesting your continued prayers on behalf of the 185 families left in the Delmas-6 Refugee Camp in Haiti.  She is in Haiti for a few more days without e-mail.  When she returns home to the Dominican Republic, she will send out a more detailed update with pictures.

We talked with her today by phone and she asked you, her support team, to pray for the following:

1.     Pray that the United Nations will release 35 tents to the 35 families who are willing to move out of the Refugee Camp to live beside family or friends in other locations in Port-au-Prince.  This move is essential before September 30th in order to clear space needed by the land owner at the Delmas-6 Camp location.

 2.     Pray that the land owner will extend the evacuation of the remaining     150 families from the Camp until at least October 30th to give time for further developing plans.

3.     Pray for the meeting today that Kendra has with the Major and Asist. Mayor of the "Cite Soleil" Section of PAP.  Their final signature is needed on a piece of land being given by the government to Youth With A Mission PAP.  YWAM will allow the remaining 150 Delmas-6 refugee families to move to this land once it is secured and supplied with water and sanitation.  This is a fantastic answer to your prayers a couple weeks ago.

4.    Pray for the UN site-Planning team to become involved in the development at this new land location.

5.     Pray for the peaceful removal of a man who has repeatedly created disruption and security concerns at the Delmos-6 Camp.  Kendra is meeting with UN Security and Haitian Police who hopefully will arrest and remove him from the Camp.

6.     Pray for the many aspects of this relocation that need to come together for the smooth housing transition for these precious Haitian families.  Pray that this change will draw them into a personal connection with Jesus or strengthen their current faith in Him.

7.   A couple of weeks ago Marty Trepus, Richard Osborne, and Kendra built two Styrofoam house in PAP that have created a lot of interest by many agencies as a possible long-term solution for permanent housing in Haiti. Pray that a strategy can be developed to make these efficient houses available to needy Haitians.

Thank you so much for your continued prayers for Kendra, Samuel, and the Haitian People.  We know your prayers are being answered.  We rejoice in the provision of free land that God is arranging for these refugees.

Please Pray with us for...

1.) Protection for Kendra and her dad Marty Trepus as they drive 14 hours tomorrow to Port-au-Prince.  Safety and health for their time in Haiti through Sept 6th.

2.) Encouragement for Samuel as he stays with the boys in the Dom Rep and helps the boys in the start of their new school year.

3.)  Direction and wisdom for Kendra & Marty as they meet with the land owner and the camp leadership committee to determine what the next steps should be.

4.)  Land to relocate the families in the camp.  Kendra will try to schedule a meeting with the director of United Nations department of camp management.  Pray for contacts with other organizations that have experience with this and may be able to partner with us in this transition.

5.)  Pray for us as we learn about, and assist in the assembly of, the initial 2 styrofoam houses.  This summer, we met Richard and Larry Orborne who have designed and shipped these foam pre-fab house parts from Florida for assembly in Port-au-Prince.  We are excited about the potential these structures have to relieve Haiti's shelter crisis.  They are relatively economical, light weight, heat insulated and wind resistant.

6.) Praise the Lord that the 225 mattresses for refugees (100 for Free Methodist needy families and 125 for the Delmas 6 refugee camp) are finally being delivered today! I have had this delivery set up 4 times since June and run into a snag each time - Thank the Lord - today, it is finally happening!

7.)  Pray for Samuel as he follows up with the youth and leaders of the 6 Bison Clubs in Jarabacoa.  On Saturday Aug 21, he led a camp with 110 kids and 15 adults of NET's (Nacion En Transformacion) Bison Clubs.  They went to Santiago to the zoo and 2 museums.  This was the first time many of these children had ever been out of our mountain town of Jarabacoa!  What an adventure!
