The van was a gift from Beaulah Ecker and her daughters in memory of her husband Floyd. Floyd's legacy of caring for others will live on in very tangible and practical ways. His enterprising wisdom and creativity were qualities that made him special. This van is particularly meaningful since Floyd was such a close friend of our family for many years. We were able to initiate the van 3 weeks ago when we took our boys on our 17th trip to Haiti since January. The reliable air conditioning made the 16 hour trip so much easier! We have officially named the van "Floyd"!! |
Here are some photos from the week our family recently spent in the Delams 6 refugee camp. Thanks for praying for our boys during their first trip to Haiti.
Nathan enjoyed playing soccer with the camp boys. The basketball rim we brought was quickly installed.
Psalms 145:13b-15 The Lord is faithful in all he says; he is gracious in all he does. The Lord helps the fallen and lifts up those bent beneath their loads. All eyes look to you for help; you give them their food as they need it.

Samuel passes out plates of food to the refugee camp kids during our 'Kids are Special day'. We had crafts, coloring, Bible story, and a meal. We showed the children's version of the "Jesus" film in Creole. |

Please continue to pray with us for ...
1.) Spiritual awakening and growth for the people of the Delmas 6 camp. Pray for FM Pastor Gilot as he holds Bible studies in the camp every Tuesday evening.
2.) Continued provision of basic-need items for the people in the camp.
3.) Arrangements have been made for 100 cots and 75 more mattresses to be aquired from the IOM (International Organization of Migration). Pray for the smooth pick up and delivery of these items. These things should be distributed on Monday and Tuesday (June 28 & 29).
On our last trip, we acquired and distributed 100 cots, 550 diapers, 75 hygiene kits, and 12 large tents. We gave the cots to the families at the back of the camp where the land is low. The people were very thankful for a chance to be up off the wet ground.
4.) Wisdom as we seek a location and strategy in transitioning these 200 families (1600 people) into a longer term living situation.
5.) Pray for encouragement for Free Methodist pastors and church families many of whom still live under tarps and in tents.
6.) Pray that the rains would be detained and this will be an uneventful hurricane season.
7.) Pray for Samuel as he develops 3 new youth/childrens programs in 2 remote communities above Jarabacoa (Dom Rep). A young pastor named Tony is helping give leadership to the Bison Club youth programs. |
