We spent 4 hours at the border - between the Dominican and Haiti on our last trip. Traffic was grid-locked in both directions until some Haitians hacked open the chain which held
one of the border gates closed. This is one of 13 times (between us) that we have crossed this border since the quake. |

Above Left: Making a human chain to pass water jugs.
Above Right: Water truck delivering jugs under tarp - in front of the refugee camp gate.
Below: Preparing to do a survey and ID system for orderly aid and water distribution.
Up to this date, we have delivered as least 18,000 gallons of pure drinking water to families in refugee camps in Haiti. Many of you helped to provide, transport, and then refill the blue jugs you see above. We are continuing to deliver water now into large tanks and then refugees can refill and purify their own water, using the
filters pictured below. Due to your generosity we feel we can keep this water coming to
the refugees for a least 6 more months, with the hope of drilling a well sometime in the
future. Thanks for your help! |
With God's direction we were able to locate 300 carbon activated micron water filters.
These were free from a Mens Ministry in Texas. We passed them out to 300 refugee
families.
Below left: instructions are being given on the use of the filters to purify their drinking
water. |
Above right: The use of this truck was extremely valuable to us in transporting donated supplies, often stock piled at the airport. We were able to fill this truck 9 times with
medical supplies, food, baby items, clothes, shoes, and small bottled waters. |
As the rainy season
begins... the need for
more adequate shelter
becomes urgent! We
have supplied 350 tarps
and 100 mosquito nets
to residents in 3 tent
cities. With the rain
come a plague of
mosquitos and diseases
like dengue fever &
malaria. The few
possession that people
have left after the quake
potentially become wet
and soggy!
We are investigating the most effective tent and shelter options. If you are
interested in being a part of meeting this urgent need please send a donation to
the Davison Free Methodist Church marked "Shelter Haiti Project" on the note line. The mailing address is: 502 Church St. Davison MI 48423. Please send an e-mail
to Kendra.Luna5@gmail.com so we can track your contribution and utilize your gift quickly. Luna family support donations are also sent to Davison FM church with
an attached note, "Luna family". |

layout and we are bringing wood from the Dominican to complete the restrooms. Wood is
$40 a sheet in Haiti . |

Above: These are medical supplies which we located at the MAF/MFI airport hanger and
will be very helpful to the thousands of amputees in Haiti.
We especially request your prayers for us as we head back into Haiti today with an 18 person VISA team from Arlington Washington. Please pray for peace in our hearts and
minds as we process all we see and do. Pray that we can keep our focus on doing what pleases Christ, not necessarily on what pleases others. Colossian 3:32 says: "Set your
minds on things above, not on earthly things." We do appreciate your faithfulness toward
us in your prayers.
