Very early this morning we loaded Kendra & Samuel's jeep with numerous supplies like tents, tarps, water filters, food, medicines & etc. in preparation for driving into Port-au-Prince Haiti tomorrow morning. They will be traveling in a caravan with two trucks carrying supplies of food, tarps, and 1250 gallons of water in 5-gallon plastic bottles.
When Samuel called one of his contact in PAP doing triage' there, she said, "they had just been praying for water." They were completely out and didn't know when they could get more. She was thrilled to hear about the "DFM Water Project", explained below.
A church in Santo Domingo DR has a "state of the art" water purification system which they are willing to use to donate an unlimited supply of pure drinking water for Haiti's earthquake victims. The Free Methodist Church of the Dominican Republic is donating the use of a truck and driver. The Davison Free Methodist Church in Michigan is sponsoring the purchase of 1000 5-gallon water jugs and gasoline for the transport. The plan is to split the 250 water jugs between two locations in PAP where we have distribution people on the ground. One of these sites will be in the FOHO area of PAP. The truck will return three days later with another 250 5-gallon jugs of water and go back to the same PAP water distribution sites. The empty water jugs will be exchanged for full jugs twice a week. This system can continue as long as needed up to three months and we hope to expand it to 1000 water jugs each week. Please pray that this plan works as designed.
We have received numerous e-mail pleas from hospitals in the Haiti countryside for antibiotics, pain medicine, casting materials, gloves, and disinfectants, once the word spread that Kendi & Sami were coming into Haiti. One e-mail said that they were having to do amputations with no anesthesia and very little pain medication. Today the Lunas are using any funds that have come in through N.E.T. to purchase as many of these desperately needed medical supplies as we can. Funds for antibiotics & pain medications can also be received by the Davison Free Methodist Church. You can also help by going through your medicines and pulling out any antibiotics, or pain medications, even if they are expired, any getting them to the Davison FM Church or N.E.T. office. Please pray for Kendra & Samuel as well as the others traveling with them into Haiti tomorrow through Sunday. They have two Haitians who know the language and road system well, riding with them. They also have many people like yourself praying for them. They send their thanks for taking time to pray for them as well as the many others trying to help in Haiti.
