Luna update on Haiti assistance  From Samuel & Kendra Luna
Jan 19, 2010

As the Dominican ambulance(arranged for by Kendra) arrived at the Haitian border for transporting badly injured Mrs.DeVariste (the FM Supt's wife) to medical treatment in the DR; Kendra received word that "new" medical personal in Haiti had determined that Mrs. DeVariste could get her needed treatment in Haiti. Kendra made a quick phone call to Omyara, a YWAM rescue worker in the middle of  POP, who reported that "YES she could use a fleet of ambulances". As Kendra spoke to Omyara, a man died who she trying to help on the lawn in front of the ruins of the Presidential Palace. The ambulance made two round trips into Haiti collecting severely wounded to treat in the DR.  As you can tell the ambulance intended for DeVariste was not wasted.

In case you are following the minut details of these updates, Kendra did find her valuable "daytimer".

Today has been a bit like the "Situation Room" with continual phone calls coming in and going out.  Kendra has made arrangements for 5000 gallons of Diesel gas to be delivered into Haiti to "Double Harvest", a ministry center &  hospital 30 miles outside POP.  They are desperate for gas & food.

Samuel & Kendra are making arrangements to travel into Haiti on Friday with a FM strategic planning team including structural engineers from the US to inspect the safety of several schools. Hopefully they are found structurally safe in order to serve as refugee centers over the next few months.  They have been gathering water filters as well as lots of 5 gallon jugs of water to take with them on Friday.  They are also working on securing the use of trucks to transport rice, beans, & cooking oil for Haitian pastors to distribute in the future.

Please continue to pray for clear thinking and God directed decisions by the Lunas.  Your prayers are being felt here in the Dominican Republic and Haiti as we see God working out many details.

Thanks,
Cheryl Trepus (Kendra's mom)
