Haiti/Dominican Earthquake Update From Samuel & Kendra Luna
Jan 15, 2010

Please continue to pray for the earthquake victims.

Samuel crossed the  Dominican border into Haiti early this morning ...

Please pray for his safely and wisdom during the next couple of days.  He was able to make connect with a friend at the Haitian border who is the Dominican World Vision Director. Sami was able to join the World Vision Caravan going into Haiti.  Sami, Andy Yardy, and Voleiere (their Haitian guide) were all issued World Vision Vests and hats.  This will help some with their safety in Haiti.  Contact with him is almost impossible while in Haiti.  He may be returning to the Dominican Border to sleep at night.  His Jeep is loaded on top with 5 gallon jugs of water as well as tools which will be in high demand.  If these items are taken by those along the road, then at least desperate people won't have to break into the jeep.  He also carries a precious cargo of antibiotics and other medical supplies.  Please pray that he can get these into the hands of the "right people". Also pray for God's direction in meeting the other connections Sami needs to make with Haitian Free Methodist church leaders.

Kendra is headed to the Haitian border to  pick up Dr.Dan Snyder (FM Missionary) who has been giving nonstop medical treatment at the US Embassy in Port au Prince.  He is traveling out with several VISA well drillers.  She will be helping to connect them to other VISA team members who have already made it to Santo Domingo. Please pray for their safe exit from Haiti and Kendra's travel to the border.

This e-mail is being sent out by Kendra's parents since she is currently in route to the Haitian border.  We will update you as soon as we have additional information and prayer requests.  Kendra's mom Cheryl is headed to the Dominican Republic tomorrow to help with caring for Landon, Nathan and Andersen during this time.

If you are interested in more direct details about Sami's time in Haiti, go to www.helphaitiheal.org.  This is a site where Andy Yardy will be posting updates.

Psalm 46 has been particularly meaningful to me recently.  Verses 1 & 2 say, "God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.  So we will not fear, even if earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea."

We appreciate your concern and prayers - Cheryl & Marty Trepus
