ArtCycle boldly ventures
where the Downtown Art Walk fears to tread
East Hollywood puts the Art, the Cyclists, the Food Trucks, and the entertainment where they belong, on the streets of Los Angeles.
On Saturday, September 17, ArtCycle's vision for bringing public space to life takes over Santa Monica Boulevard, from Vermont Avenue to Virgil Avenue, opening the street to people and closing it to motor vehicles, creating a temporary open-air gallery that features artists and artisans creating arts and crafts, bike tours of local galleries and architecture, live music on two stages, opportunities to create and activities for all ages.

On Friday, September 16, the 5th annual celebration of
Park[ing] Day LA hits the streets as Park-itects throughout the city step up to the curb, put a quarter in the meter, and proceed to transform metered curbside parking into urban parks, just for the day.
Park[ing] Day LA challenges the status quo and is designed to stir a conversation or dialogue on open space, public space, green space, and to inspire a vision of a city where "Streets are for People!"

LA's neighborhood councils present Congress of Neighborhoods
"Increasing Public Participation in Government!"
Neighborhood Council leaders from throughout the city have partnered with the Department of Neighborhood Empowerment (DONE) in bringing the 2011 LA Congress of Neighborhoods to LA's City Hall on Saturday, September 24, from 7:45 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Los Angeles has 95 certified neighborhood councils and the Congress of Neighborhoods is designed by council leaders so that there is something for everybody, from curious stakeholders to new board members to seasoned veterans of the civic engagement process to city hall insiders.
The event is free, it includes breakfast and lunch, and
registration only takes a moment.
