This has been a great week for the Box for City Council campaign team.
Our paperwork is filed, our nominating forms are in hand, and we are walking precincts and knocking on doors, collecting signatures in order to qualify for the March 8, 2011 primary election. The response has been extremely positive and very encouraging.
The Box for City Council 2011 campaign team is made up of folks just like you, people who love their homes, their neighborhoods and their city. We believe that a contested election is the foundation of Participatory Democracy and a powerful step to connecting the people of Los Angeles with City Hall.
Incumbents have many advantages in a campaign and funding is typically the biggest. Grassroots candidates such as myself must start from scratch while those in office have war chests that reflect years of support from big-money special interests.
If you agree with me that a powerful and positive election journey will engage and empower the people of Los Angeles, I urge you to contribute to my campaign. Residents of Council District 4 will be able to support me at the polls on election day but to get there, I need the financial support of everybody, regardless of where you live.
Thank you for your support, it means a lot to me, to our campaign, and to the people of Los Angeles.
