BudgetLA meets in Hollywood
BudgetLA City HallOn Saturday, February 27th, BudgetLA hosts Deputy Mayor Larry Frank and Special Assistant City Attorney Jane Usher in a robust discussion of the Mayor's proposed consolidation of the Community Development Department and the Department of Neighborhood Empowerment.

Frank will offer an overview of the City's Budget Crisis and the details of the proposed CDD/DONE consolidation along with the opportunities for the neighborhood councils to participate in the programming of the new department along with the selection of the Executive Director of the new department.

Usher will address debate over Charter Departments vs. Ordinance Departments, the Mayoral authority to consolidate departments, and the balance of power between the Neighborhood Commissioners, the Neighborhood Empowerment and the Neighborhood Councils.

Mayor's Budget Survey Deadline
Budget SurveyThis Sunday is the close of the two month Mayoral Budget Survey, an online exercise in budget balancing that has stirred much interest and much debate.

The survey is a great way to review the city's budget and the challenge is to balance the budget. Along the way, you will have the opportunity to leave feedback and suggestions specific to the question. The survey will stay online but the data will be collected at the close of Sunday, February 28, and reviewed for presentation at the Regional Budget Day.

Some folks have praised the process and the survey structure while others have criticized the process. Either way, they're all talking budget and if you'd like to get your opinion in, now is your last chance.

BudgetLA goes to City Hall
