Fun Fact

The keyboard layout as we know it today was invented by Christopher Sholes in 1868. His first typewriters had the letters arranged in alphabetical order but he changed it to the QWERTY arrangement. He contracted with the Remington Arms Company in 1873 to build and market his typewriter. It did not sell well for the first 15 years.

Distribution Software Blog

Greetings!

Efficiency. Seems simple enough right? If you look up the definition you may get 3 different explanations:

  1. The state or quality of being efficient.

  2. Accomplishment of or ability to accomplish a job with a minimum expenditure of time and effort.

  3. Effective operation as measured by a comparison of production with cost (as in energy, time, and money). The ratio of the useful energy delivered by a dynamic system to the energy supplied to it.

Does it still seem simple enough? Perhaps not, but it is a word that we hear every day in our businesses and impress upon our employees. How do you know if you are efficient within your company? If you think you are efficient because your revenue is good, you may be mistaken. It's definitely a benefit if you have good revenue, but you may still have inefficiencies which are hindering an even larger revenue potential. If you are struggling to hit your revenue goals, then this is a telltale sign that your company's efficiency needs to be improved upon.

Look at your efficiencies on a daily basis to measure your successes. Take some time to review how you are using your Microsoft Dynamics GP software for reports, processes, cross-department communications and workflows.  You may quickly find out where you can redefine your business to become more efficient.

Let us help you make sure you are using your Microsoft Dynamics GP solution to increase your business' efficiency.

5 Simple Tips for Maintaining Your Microsoft Dynamics GP Database

If one word can sum up how to maintain your database it would be "backup". We would hate to think what would happen to a company that had a catastrophic equipment failure and lost all of their financial information. That is why it is so important to have an effective plan for maintaining your database. Some plans are very time consuming and difficult which means that they end up being skipped until later or worse yet, completely abandoned.

Maintenance is the critical key to make sure you avert any catastrophes. We recommend you read this whitepaper by Eugene Kogan of the US Fund for UNICEF "5 Simple Tips for Microsoft Dynamics-GP Maintenance".

Business Intelligence for Microsoft Dynamics GP

One of the biggest challenges facing businesses today is easy access to accurate and informative business data.  Without strong reporting it can be extremely difficult to make informed decisions.

Many companies rely on Microsoft Excel spreadsheets that are manually updated with information that may or may not be current. Imagine if your business had reporting that would allow you to see if you are in alignment with the strategic goals of the company.  All of this can be easily done with the business intelligence (BI) tools for Microsoft Dynamics GP, which also has integrations into Microsoft Office and Microsoft SharePoint.  Because the BI tools are from Microsoft, the additional benefit is that they are already familiar to the end user, allowing for easy adoption, improved planning, and better decision making.

Read this informative document about how Business Intelligence with Microsoft Dynamics GP can help you. When you are ready to take your company to the next level with BI, contact us at 425.277.4760 or email us and we will help you get started.
