Greetings!

Well, 2010 is finally here. Where's my jet pack? I guess we'll have to wait a few more years for those.

In the meantime, I hope you all had an excellent and relaxing Christmas. We did get snow here in Williamstown, MA, and it was a very satisfying holiday for all concerned. But, time to get back to work.

I'm enjoying teaching my Digital Darkroom course at the college here. Got a good bunch of students this year, but it's hard to believe that the semester is already half over. Soon it'll be time to pack up and head back to Cork. It'll be sad to leave, but I'm looking forward to seeing home again.

I've a great article for you this month on how to plan for a successful landscape photography expedition. I'm very happy with the way it turned out, and I hope you find it useful and enjoyable.

I'm also thrilled to announce a very exciting workshop I'll be running in Africa this October. We'll be rafting down the Zambezi River from the base of Victoria Falls (not the top of the falls, please note!). This promises to be a boatload of fun, and the photographic opportunities will be stunning. Read on for details.

I also want to let you know about my ten day touring workshops closer to home, in Ireland. These offer a great way to see the country with fresh eyes and come away with some spectactular images.

Last but not least, I still have some 2010 calendars available at the discounted rate of €7.50 plus P&P.

I hope you enjoy the newsletter, and stay warm!

Oh! And don't forget to follow me on Twitter for up-to-the minute news and updates.

Planning for Successful Landscape Photography
Planning OutingsIn this month's article, I share some of the tips and techniques I use to plan my photography trips so as to increase my chances of coming away with great images.

I talk about how to predict where the Sun will be in relation to your composition, how to decide what times and dates will give you the best results for a particular photograph and how to use maps to do preliminary scouting of locations.

You can read it on the website, and as always, feel free to email me with your comments and suggestions for future articles, I'd love to hear from you.
Zambezi River Photography Workshop
AwardsThis is a trip I'm really looking forward to. In conjunction with Water by Nature, one of the world's foremost river rafting companies, I'm offering a once-in-a-lifetime experience - a nine-day trip to Zambia in Africa with seven days spent rafting along the spectacular Zambezi River, photographing the landscape and wildlife (and the rafting!) as we go.

The trip cost is all-inclusive except for your travel costs to and from Livingstone airport with all rafting gear and training provided on site.

Don't miss this great opportunity - book your place now!
Two Extended Workshops in Ireland
Photo workshopsI'm running two ten-day traveling workshops in Ireland this year, both in August.

One will take place in the south-west, traveling through each of the five peninsulas in Cork and Kerry. This one I'm running solo, and you'll get to share some of my favourite locations in this most scenic part of the country. Details for this tour can be found by clicking here.

The second workshop I'll be running in partnership with the excellent black & white photographer, Ron Rosenstock. Ron has been running workshops in Ireland from his house in Westport for forty years, and is an excellent teacher. He and I will be co-leading this very special workshop, based in Mayo and traveling to places such as Downpatrick Head and the Delphi Valley. More details can be found here.

Whichever one you choose will be a great benefit to both your photography and your knowledge of the country and culture.
Seminar and Workshop Dates for 2010
My popular seminars and field workshops have now been scheduled for the first half of 2010.

They make an excellent gift for the person who has everything, and if you're not sure what dates will work, gift certificates are available which can be redeemed for any of next year's dates.
That's all for this month. Thanks for your continued business and I'll see you in the new year!

Don't forget that you can forward this newsletter on to your friends.
Cheers,
Peter
