TAKE ACTION TODAY- Urge Congress to SUPPORT the National Ocean Policy and OPPOSE any attempts to restrict funding for its implementation.

Our Nation has long relied on the abundance of resources, economic value and natural beauty of our oceans and coasts, but we have not always managed our ocean with the care that it deserves.  Last year, President Obama established our Nation's first National Ocean Policy in order to protect, maintain, and restore our ocean, coastal, and Great Lakes natural resources for present and future generations.  But now some Members of Congress are attempting to stop implementation of the National Ocean Policy by cutting off all funding in the FY12 Department of the Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Bill.

Halting implementation of the National Ocean Policy would throw away two years worth of work, investment and commitment by state governments, commercial and industrial ocean users, scientists, 25 federal agencies and departments and tens of thousands of citizens across the country.

Congress will vote on the cut this week, so contact your Representative today!

Please take a minute to call and email your Representative through the Capitol Hill switchboard at 202-224-3121 or . Find out who your Representative is here:
