Dear ,
Right now words are simply inadequate to express how sad we feel to see the unprecedented size of the disaster in the Gulf of Mexico and the pain it is causing. Eleven families are grieving. Vast numbers of marine animals and their ecosystems are dead or dying. Beautiful beaches and rich, productive wetlands are smothered in oil. We are haunted by the images of the oil-soaked pelicans, desperate, uncomprehending and-quite probably-doomed. Families and entire communities are facing financial ruin.
The consequences of this disaster will be with us for decades... and it was all preventable. BP's CEO says he wants his life back. We want the Gulf's life back.
We must heal the Gulf of Mexico's animals, its ecosystems, its people. We must learn from this painful catastrophe and build new policies based on the best available science to ensure that this never, never happens again. |
