Dear , For a few months now, you've been reading about our efforts to promote President Obama's national plan for protectung and sustainably using our country's diverse and far-flung ocean resources. With the completion of our California Ocean Uses Atlas Project, an innovative public-private partnership between NOAA's Marine Protected Areas Center and MCBI, for the first time state and federal ocean resource managers can see where and how people use the ocean in California ... for work and for play. So what?
It's only by knowing what goes on in specific areas of the ocean (and mapping it!) that we can effectively manage them. Right now America's oceans are managed in a hodge-podge fashion that isn't good for business or the environment.
MCBI is working to change that with projects like this and our advocacy efforts in Washington DC. |
