President Obama's Ocean Policy Task Force issued science-based recommendations for a national policy to govern, protect, maintain and restore the oceans, coasts and Great Lakes. The Task Force report is unprecedented in US history, because it's the first time we've had a common vision for governing the 4.4 million square miles of America's marine waters.
MCBI worked hard to ensure ecosystem-based management, coastal and marine spatial planning and adaptive management based on the best available science and other critical conservation concepts were included. If you would like to learn more about the plan, read our press release, or this article on our blog.
Show your support for the new National Ocean Policy recommendations, like these young women in fish costumes are doing at the recent San Francisco public meeting, by attending a public meeting or tell the Task Force you support the policy. (They're only taking comments until October 17.)
Thank you for your love and support for our blue oceans.
