| Our New Customer Advocate Program
It's no secret good customer service is the lifeblood of any business. Putting the "Accent on Services" is not just our company jargon. It is the very essence of how we do business.
Accent's commitment to providing excellent customer service is proven by its recently expanded "Customer Advocate" program. Our two Customer Advocates, Debra Cox in our Dayton office and Adam Brinkman in our Delaware office, follow up on service orders to ensure that the work we've done has been done properly, the customer's expectations have been met, and that there are no outstanding service issues. We've received some great feedback from our clients regarding these follow-up calls. They also make routine calls to customers to share information about the other services we provide, which can increase productivity, help you provide better service to your customers, and can often save you money.
We want our customers to view our Customer Advocates as their "go to" persons. Feel free to call them for answers or if there is anything we need to do to meet your expectations. It is our goal to make Debra and Adam your first contacts with Accent. Debra can be reached at (937) 890-2504, or at debrac@accentservices.com. Adam can be reached at (740) 203-3553, or at adamb@accentservices.com. They want not only to meet your expectations, they want to exceed them! |

Which cable is best, Category 5E or 6?
by Joe Bash
Our clients often ask whether Accent recommends the installation of Category 6 cable instead of Category 5E. The answer is yes. Category 6 cable offers improved transmission qualities and superior noise immunity, resulting in fewer data errors and a lower rate of re-transmitted, lost or corrupted data packets. Current applications running at 1Gb/s are really pushing the limits of Category 5E cable. As streaming applications such as IP Telephony, video and multi-media continue to become more commonplace, the demand for high data rates and higher bandwidth will increase, placing more and more demands on the cabling infrastructure.
The life cycle for structured cabling is generally about 10 years, and over that period of time, the installed cabling will support up to three to five generations of equipment, and many more software upgrades. From a future-proofing perspective, it is always better to install the highest grade of cable available even if you do not see an immediate need. Cabling is expensive to replace. At an increased cost of only 15-20% over Category 5E cable, installing Category 6 cable is certainly worthy of serious consideration. Accent's Structured Cabling Division is highly experienced in the design, installation and certification of Category 6 cabling infrastructure. If you would like to learn more about our cabling services, please speak to your Accent Account Representative, or contact Joe Bash in our Structure Cabling Division at (740) 203-3556, or by email at joeb@accentservices.com. |
Debunking Unified Communications Myths - Is UC too Costly and Complex?
by Steve Hearst
As Unified Communications (UC) has made the transition from a cool technology for early adopters to a mainstream solution for the enterprise, confusion has inevitably entered the marketplace. Companies have taken very different approaches to implementing UC, leading to a number of myths related to what it takes for companies to deploy a UC system and what the value is. We want to debunk the following myths:
- Myth: "UC is too costly and complex to implement, especially for small to midsized companies." With the variety of options available, you don't need to replace your entire phone system. While all this may be true for some UC solutions, it's certainly not true with ShoreTel or AVST.
- Myth: "You need to gut your existing telephone system to implement UC." Not with ShoreTel or AVST. Accent has successfully integrated UC solutions with existing PBXs, enabling companies to maintain a single "communication system" while providing full UC capabilities to those users who most need them and expanding the UC deployment as justified.
- Myth: "You need to spend ridiculous amounts of time and money on implementing and managing a UC system". If you investigate the various UC solutions and you'll find that ease of implementation and management is a key differentiator of the solutions from Accent.
- Myth: "You need to spend ridiculous amounts of time and money training administrators and users." Most UC systems today are based on standard interfaces and workflows that are familiar to users and easy to learn.
By taking a little time to discover the truth about the UC solutions in the marketplace (see what Nemertes Research says), you find that cost and complexity are not impediments to UC. Just the opposite. A Unified Communications system can quickly and easily eliminate cost and complexity from a company's existing business processes, making employees more productive and better able to collaborate.
Stay tuned as we continue to demystify other myths about deploying Unified Communications solutions.
