Join us THIS TUESDAY October 26th at 6pm at Dave's Pizza to enjoy Generation Dog's 4th Annual Howl-o-Ween Bash.
Back by popular demand, this festive event welcomes well-behaved, friendly dogs and their "staff" to enjoy music, food and fun . . . as well as the old favorites - pizza and beer! Dave's will be offering menu service for the humans - including $2 pints - and will throw in a free appetizer for any humans in costume. Generation Dog will provide plenty of water and treats for the canine companions - and something special for the dressed up doggies! Special discounts will be available in the boutique that night, and two costume prizes will be awarded for best dog, and best human costumes. Please make sure there is one human attending for each dog in tow, and that all dogs are freshly walked right before you arrive at Dave's patio. We also ask that you come prepared to clean up should any "accidents" occur. All are welcome so don't forget to invite your friends - furry ones included! We Have a Few New Faces in the Dog House!
Those of you who've been into the store recently have surely noticed a couple few new faces. For those who haven't visited in a while, here's a little heads up. Please make everyone feel welcome!
 Kayla Johnson joined April and Stephanie to complete the trio of terrific groomers at the Rub-a-Dub-Dog Bathhouse and Spa. Kayla was trained by Stephanie at Petsmart several years ago, then worked as groomer in the Sylacauga, AL and Vincent, AL areas. We are thrilled to bring her and Steph together again as a member of the BEST grooming team in Birmingham. Those who have had the pleasure of booking Kayla to date have been very pleased with her work - and her cheerful disposition and obvious love for the dogs. Kayla has five dogs of her own - "Noel", "Jingle Bells", "Bella", "Tink", and "Sirius Black" - and one cat - "Magic" to satisfy her love for animals when she's not working. She also loves spending time with her friends and family and LOVES playing softball.
 Kathryn "a.k.a. Kat" Tracy has been on board for several months now helping out in the boutique and scheduling appointments for the spa. As a client for a couple years prior to that, Kat was a natural choice when it was time to bring some help on board. She has two dogs of her own - "Mickey" - a 19 1/2 year old miracle Cocker Spaniel, and "Davis" - a 5 year old Cockapoo - who can be seen around town modeling his wares from Generation Dog. She also has a cat named "Monkey" and is dying to bring a female pup into the family so she can dress her up in all the fun clothes and bling necklaces we sell in the boutique. Although many know her as "Kathryn", or "Mary Kathryn" we decided that at work, she would be known by her nickname "Kat" in order to minimize confusion since we already have a Catherine!
 Carla Diliberto just returned home to Birmingham after being away for ten years in Jacksonville, FL and Gulf Shores, AL. This self-professed beach lover relocated to help expand the Home Sweet Home Pet Care operation and get to know Generation Dog's business inside and out so she can one day open a Generation Dog at the beach! Also a animal lover, Carla is looking forward to spending time with lots of dogs while she decides which furry best friend to bring into her home next. Her boxer named "Muggsy" still occupies a treasured place in her heart even though he doesn't live with her anymore. Carla plans to bring her experience in nursing and customer service to bear in caring for pets in the comfort of their homes and making their parents feel comfortable leaving them in her capable hands. And if you noticed a family resemblance you are correct - Carla and Catherine are cousins who are the same age, graduated together from high school and have always been close!
The Rub-a-Dub-Dog Bathhouse and Spa is open Monday through Saturday from 10am to 6pm and sees clients by appointment only. We do not use cages for drying or containment and all of our canine clients get one-on-one personal attention from their groomer. "Magic" - Elderly Yellow Lab - Missing in Mtn Brook
"Magic" went missing from his home in the 2900 block of Cherokee Road over the weekend. There have been sightings on Dell Road and elsewhere in Mountain Brook but as of yet, he has not been reunited with his family. Signs are up all over Mountain Brook but since many of our clients live in the area, we wanted to share a picture of his sweet face so you can keep an eye out for him. Please get in touch with us at Generation Dog if you find him - you can also call "Doree" in Homewood or the numbers on the flyer. Magic has a great big, super soft and supportive bed on order for him so he needs to get home and get comfy!

Generation Dog is ramping up our in-home pet care division - Home Sweet Home Pet Care - to better serve our loyal clientele in the Over the Mountain area of Birmingham. We know we can't fill your shoes but we try really hard to be the next best option for your furry, fishy and feathered best friends.
We strive to maintain your pet's usual schedule and routine as much as possible when you are away - and are able to provide personal, reliable service even if you have multiple pets or pets with special needs. In many cases, it is even more cost effective to have your pets stay in your house with the usual sights, sounds and smells of home instead of boarding them where they are in a cage or run most of the time. Not to mention, they'll be surrounded by all their reminders of you and your pending return!
Unlike other in home pet care services in the area, we do not have a large stable of pet caregivers - nor do we strive to have the largest client list. Our referrals are all word of mouth and we will never take on more jobs than we can handle without sacrificing our high level of pesonal attention. We get to know you and your pets and treat them as if they are our own when you need us to fill in for you.
Your pets will be cared for by one of only a few trusted employees who we have known and had in our inner circle for years - and you will be able to meet and get to know your pet's caregiver in your home before any booking commences - at no additional cost to you. We are also happy to contact you with phone calls and/or emails and/or text messages while on duty - and have been known to send pictures too!
We are also happy to assist in other ways - such as rides to the airport, bringing in mail, managing domestic help, and more. You can always find a teenager in the neighborhood to feed your dog but If you want someone who will treat your home and your children as if they are our own - and who are mature, capable and have reliable back-up care in case of emergencies, Home Sweet Home Pet Care is for you. But don't take our word for it - ask for references! We have several regular clients that we've worked with for years. In fact, it's because of their desire to sing our praises that we've decided to promote this service to our other regular clients.
