September 11 - Ten Years Later
As we all pause to reflect on the events of September 11, we ask that you call to mind the two million service members who have been deployed since 9/11 and the military families who support them.
 | | My Daddy Is A Soldier, by Anne M. Stratford |
To commemorate the tenth anniversary of this touchstone event, we encourage you to take a moment to read a story to a special child in your life. Our new booklist offers a special category of books that provides a targeted selection to help deployed parents connect with their children as well as quell the fear and anxiety that some children experience due to a parent's deployment. These books also help children better understand the deployed parent's role in the US Armed Forces as they protect our nation's security.
To find these books, you can visit our online booklist and click on the category "Connecting During Separation" in any age group for special books to read to the children you love.
Our best wishes today and every day to all those serving and all those supporting them. |

Bestselling author of If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, If you Give a Pig a Pancake and If you Give a Dog a Donut, Laura Numeroff, has graciously agreed to serve as the Honorary Chair or our 3rd annual gala fundraiser.
On Saturday, November 12th, 2011, we will present the third annual Storybook Ball at the Hyatt Regency La Jolla at Aventine - a black tie dinner and auction to honor our beneficiaries, board, volunteers and donors. Your participation, through a tax-deductible sponsorship at the event, will help us reach more deployed servicemen and women and their families.
