Greetings!

We have reached our one millionth beneficiary since our founding in 1989.   We sincerely appreciate the support of our volunteers, donors and all those who've participated to make this milestone possible.  Thank you.
United Through Reading Has Served Over One Million Beneficiaries

Military Program
It all began with one woman, our Founder, Betty Mohlenbrock, and one camera, on one pier, filming one Sailor before he deployed, and has now reached over one million beneficiaries.

At United Through Reading, we know that this is only possible through the support of program partners like the USO and George Bailey Detention Center and Seacrest Retirement Communities; donors like Target, the Girard Foundation, BAE Systems and the Viterbi Family; and hundreds of volunteers serving around the world.

The 2010 Storybook Ball will take place on November 14th at the Hyatt Regency La Jolla at Aventine.

Military ProgramBestselling author of Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Jeff Kinney, will join us at the 2010 Storybook Ball as our Honorary Chair. Kinney, as honorary chair, will be on hand to help us honor the USO and USO CEO, Sloan Gibson.

The USO has been faithfully serving military personnel and their families for more than 60 years.  With the support of more than 25,000 volunteers in 130 USO centers in nine countries, the USO is making a difference in the lives of military service personnel and their families.  In 2005, the USO and United Through Reading entered into a collaborative program partnership to offer the United Through Reading Military Program at USO centers.  What began as a pilot launched in five USO centers is now available in more than 70 USO locations worldwide.

We hope you'll join us on November 14 for a spectacular evening.  For more information visit our website; to purchase tickets, please contact development staff at 858-481-7323.
