Dear Friend:

Have you begun making plans for a summer vacation?  Have you made your reservations or are you still having fun figuring out the details?

Sally would love to be thinking about such things.  Instead, she's thinking about her health -- more specifically, her lack of health.  Sally stood in line outside a Shepherd's Hope Health Center recently hoping to be seen.  She was ultimately thrilled to receive medical care from licensed health professionals who listened, who provided comfort, who offered healing.  Unfortunately, Sally is facing a long battle as she fights back against a cancerous tumor on her kidney.  But she knows she has Shepherd's Hope to help her on her tough journey.

Recently, Sally sent us a letter, "I wasn't sure what I was going to do and how I was going to get help.  I'm still concerned about my health, but knowing that Shepherd's Hope is working with me, that all those wonderful people at the Health Center are on my side, is just a miracle.  Everyone is so concerned, so warm and loving.  Bless you, Shepherd's Hope!"

Sally's words are really meant for you -- that's right, you. Your generosity is what makes it possible for Shepherd's Hope to offer hope and healing to Sally and all of our other patients -- low-income men, women and children who don't qualify for medical assistance.  Last year, almost 18,000 patient visits were provided at our nine health centers in Central Florida; there is no let-up this year, and, in fact, even more men, women and children are turning to us for help.  Sometimes, we have to turn them away -- our current resources simply don't enable us to treat everyone.

You deserve a terrific vacation and I hope you make many happy memories. Won't you also consider a gift to Shepherd's Hope?  We receive no state or federal funding -- it is the support of our community which makes it possible for us to care for our vulnerable neighbors.

Thank you for your consideration and have a wonderful summer!

With warm regards,

Cathy Benson
President
Shepherd's Hope is committed to good stewardship of your generosity.  In fact, only 12 cents of each dollar donated in 2010 and 2011 went to administrative or fundraising costs.  That means 88 cents went directly to patients and their care!

Upon request, independently audited financial documentation will be provided to anyone interested in seeing how Shepherd's Hope stewards the community's generous donations.
