GREAT NEWS...
2010 Bank of America Neighborhood Builders Award
Shepherd's Hope is the grateful recipient of the 2010 Bank of America Neighborhood Builders Award along with our friends at Jewish Family Services. This $200,000 award also includes participation in Bank of America's state of the art leadership training, making it the gift that keeps on giving! The selection committee noted Shepherd's Hope strong board leadership and comprehensive volunteer programming as two strong areas of excellence within our organization. This most generous award will strengthen the capacity of Shepherd's Hope to serve even more patients over the next two years.

SH Volunteers Join Race
Central office volunteer Marcus Pruitt and Dr. Diebel health center volunteer Carmen Piedrahita were two runners who laced up their shoes early one morning! Volunteers, patients and Board Members from Shepherd's Hope, along with hundreds of others, gathered at 7 a.m. for the Greater Maitland 5k. Sponsored by one of Shepherd's Hope faith partners, Orangewood Presbyterian Church, the run/walk proceeds benefitted Shepherd's Hope and New Hope for Kids. New friends were made while taking participants through the tree-lined streets of Maitland. What a sense of joy everyone felt at having participated!

Award Recipient: Dr. Joseph Allgeier

Seated, in blue shirt, Dr. Allgeier is surrounded by well-wishers upon receiving his much deserved award. Congratulations! |
Maria had been waiting in line at Hungerford for an hour with her infant daughter, who had a high temperature for several days. Young working mothers, like all parents, worry about the well-being of their children. And Maria was no exception. Like all Shepherd's Hope patients, Maria and her daughter had no medical insurance. Maria speaks Spanish primarily. Her employer gave her two hours off this Wednesday afternoon so she had time to pick up her child, take the bus to and hope her little one could be seen at a Shepherd's Hope clinic. She stood in line for an hour and soon was comforted by the caring and Spanish-speaking doctor who would see her daughter.
Dr. Allgeier volunteers at the Hungerford Clinic. He became a hero that evening offering hope to Maria and healing to her daughter. As Shepherd's Hope Medical Director, Dr. Allgeier volunteers monthly - often at two clinics and often after a long shift at the hospital.
Because of his kind spirit and generous outreach to families like Maria's and because of his leadership excellence in the field of healthcare, Dr. Allgeier has been awarded the 2010 Orlando Business Journal's Healthcare Heroes Community Outreach Award. Congratulations to OUR hero, Dr. Allgeier! |
2010 FAMOUS FACES...a big success!

They came, they saw... and they danced! There was great fun and great fundraising as more than $180,000 was raised at this year's gala. Shepherd's Hope will use these dollars to help provide approximately 17,000 patient visits in 2010. We look forward to seeing you and more new faces at next year's Famous Faces Masquerade Ball so we may continue to offer hope and healing to our community neighbors.
Okay, no excuses-almost a year's notice-so we want you and ALL your friends and associates to make our 2011 Famous Faces Masquerade Ball as thrilling, as fun, and as great a fundraiser as 2010 - or even better!! Save the date--it is Saturday, October 22, 2011 at Loews Royal Pacific Resort.
