Community Meeting, Crime and local Law Enforcement
On Tuesday, January 25th at 5:00 at the Smith Hill Library located at 31 Candace St., there will be a community meeting focused on local law enforcement in Smith Hill. District Commander, Lt. Daniel Gannon, will be in attendance to answer questions and discuss local law enforcement with residents. Sen. Maryellen Goodwin and Rep. John McCauley are also scheduled to be in attendance.
Please try to make this meeting to voice your concerns to our local law enforcement and political leaders. If you have concerns, but can not make this meeting, please email with your concerns and they will be passed along to the appropriate persons.
Councilman Hassett
We are delighted to report that Ward 12 Councilman Terrence M. Hassett is doing well in his continuing rehabilitation. He was sworn in for his new term recently in an emotional event at city hall, that many of you may have seen on the news. "Terry" wants everyone to know that he is feeling better and is looking forward to resuming his role as councilman soon. |

Visions II
|
|
Visions II is our current 52 unit tax credit project, the largest project of its kind currently underway in Rhode Island! All the houses in Visions II will be completely "gutted" inside and out and will feature a new roof, new exterior cement-board siding, new electric, plumbing, etc... These houses will all remain affordable rentals for at least 45 years, so they are certainly being re-built to last!
In all, there will be nineteen houses renovated and one new-construction townhouse built which will result in 52 high-quality rental units being returned to the community. We say "returned" because these buildings have all been vacant for the last two+ years and represent some the most degraded housing stock in the entire neighborhood. For more information, click on the link above, and we will be sure to keep you updated about the progress.

Smith Hill Library and the PCL
There is a great local fundraiser for the PCL on the night of Saturday January 29th at AS220. Entitled, "9 Bands for 9 Bucks," this fundraiser will feature different genres of music and a little something for everyone. It is a great chance to see an eclectic night of music for only a few bucks in support of a great cause! The Providence Community Libraries (all the neighborhood libraries except Central) are in the second year of new management under the PCL. The new organization is community-based and a truly democratic institution.
Please get involved!
