Greetings From Smith Hill Community Development Corporation!
This September newsletter includes a few great community-building events. We here at the Smith Hill Community Development Corporation are very excited to share these announcements and hope to see you at one or all of them!
Farmers Market at Davis Park
Elmhurst Clean & Green, our key community partners in the overall Davis Park rehabilitation, have worked very hard to bring a Farmers Market to Davis Park.

Davis Park Farmers Market will run on Sundays
September 13- October 25th 10 am -1 pm
The Davis Park Farmers Market will include many vendors who will be selling: apples, peaches, lettuce, onions, garlic, beets, carrots, potatoes, cabbage, broccoli, peppers, squash, pumpkins, candied apples, apple cider, cut flowers, mums, natural vegetable soaps, organic foods, honey products, gourmet cupcakes, baked goods, etc.
Please help support your local Rhode Island farmers, the transformation of Davis Park into a family-friendly hub of activity, and a healthy lifestyle by patronizing the Farmer's Market. If this fall market is successful, next year it may run throught the entire season.
HousEART Cookout Celebration
On Tuesday September 15th, 4:30 - 6:00, SHCDC is hosting a cookout in celebration of our HousEART initiative. Free food and guest speakers, including the artists responsible for the murals will be featured.
Please come to 16 Bernon St to enjoy local artist Lydia Stein's exceptional mural, have some delicious food and meet some great neighbors. We will also have maps to the other wonderful projects that are within walking distance. HousEART seeks to connect Providence artists with neighborhood volunteers in
order to turn vacant, blighted and recently foreclosed multi-family houses into
temporary works of art.
This creative management of vacant housing is possible because the CDC owns the properties and they will be completely rehabilitated later in the year.
Please Join us on Tuesday September 15th, 4:30 - 6:00 at 16 Bernon St.
There are currently three HousEART projects: Lydia Stein's @ 16 Bernon St., Lynne Harlow's @ 515 Chalkstone Ave. (pictured above) and Michelle Peckham's @ 9 Osborn St. If you would like to view more pictures of all the HousEART projects or learn more about this SHCDC initiative, Click Here.PROVIDENCE GARDENERS!
