Greetings! ,

The energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to the Museum development continues to grow and we thank you for not only telling your friends but making commitments to take this from design concept to reality.  Recently while attending a function in Colorado Springs, We were reminded by one of the attendees of the Museum's initial community event in late 2008 where World War II era mess kits were the utensils for the gala affair.  Several individuals have remarked that the mess kit remains a prized souvenir from that remarkable evening.

Our Board of Directors is pleased with the progress since the beginning of the year.  Details will follow in subsequent newsletters and we will provide readers with an overview of the financial commitments from individuals in the community as well others outside of Colorado.

We are so proud to have Ms. Kathryn Janak as our Project
Manager working many of the coordination details of the Museum's planning.  Kathryn's deep understanding of the needs and focus of the Museum, along with her background in architectural design and project management make her uniquely qualified for this very important job.

You (our readers) are the critical element in this project's growth because you can encourage your friends to examine our website, visit with Ms. Janak or any Board Member, and assist in bringing important support and resources to this world class educational Museum.

Ms. Kathryn Janak is named Museum
Project Manager
The National Museum of World War II Aviation Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Ms. Kathryn Janak has joined our team as Project Manager of the Museum.  Kathryn has been closely involved as the Museum's Design and Architectural Advisor for the past 3 years.  She participated in many of the planning discussions with the firm selected to design the Museum, Gallagher and Associates, as we crafted the conceptual design phase of the Museum.  We have been impressed by her creative and systematic approach to the complexity of this Museum development process.  When you visit our 20 acre site and see exhibits and information devoted to the Museum's design and development story, you see a lot of work bearing Kathryn's personal touch from story board displays to area enhancements.  Kathryn has an impressive background in both facility design and project management.

Ms. Janak earned her Bachelor of Science in Environmental Design from the University of Colorado at Boulder and her Master of Arts degree in Interior Design from the University of Colorado in Denver's College of Architecture and Planning.  Kathryn has won some coveted and very competitive design industry awards related to important commercial interior design projects in the Denver and Boulder area.  Kathryn has also been recognized for her work with Senior housing projects.  With over 25 years of design, planning, and project management experience, she is a perfect match for our Museum development efforts.

When asked about her thoughts about the selection, Kathryn said "I am honored to be working among an incredibly distinguished and talented group of individuals who share my belief and enthusiasm for the Museum."

A Colorado native, Kathryn comes from a strong Air Force heritage.  Her father was a Command Pilot with over 10,000 hours during World War II, the Berlin Airlift, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.  He received numerous decorations for his service.  Her mother was an Air Force Flight Nurse during her active duty service.

Colorado Springs Municipal Airport Display Completed

Thanks to Mr. Mark Earle, Director of Aviation at the Colorado Springs Airport, and to the Museum's Project Manager and talented designer Ms Kathryn Janak, travelers passing through the airport can see an exhibit located on the concourse highlighting the National Museum of World War II Aviation.  This puts our message about the Museum in front of approximately 2 million travelers a year.  Take a look next time you travel through the Colorado Springs airport.
