What's Up at Advent Arlington Church
NOVEMBER 4, 2009

Join us for our 100 Year Anniversary Celebration this Sunday!

Clock
We will celebrate our history and our future during the 11 am worship service.  Following worship, we will gather in front of the church for a group photo.  Then we will head to Club Windward (3740 Canada Rd, Lakeland, TN 38002, 386-5870) for a luncheon.  Free childcare will be available at Advent at Arlington Church during all of the activities.  The children will be fed lunch at the church.  RSVP to Kelly Henson at 598-8774.

PHOTO DIRECTORY: We are going to put together a photo directory for Advent at Arlington.  For the next couple of weeks we ask that you or your family spend a few minutes after worship getting photographed.  We are not doing formal portraits or offering portrait packages for sale.  This will be a simple shot that we can put in our computer database and assemble for a directory.  We simply hope to give everyone something so they can put names and faces together and have a way of contacting one another.  This will begin Sunday at Club Windward.  While you are at the luncheon, please take a few minutes, head out to the gazebo, and get your photograph taken.  Thanks for taking part!

Please pray for them, the dozens of other youth from Advent who are atttending, and their 26 adult leaders (including our own Melissa Carlton).

We hope to surround them all in prayer all weekend long.  A 24-hour a day prayer chart has been formed and still has some openings.  Please email Barbara Rudolph at brudolph@adventpres.com if you would like to take a half-hour block.

Whether you can sign up for a 30 minute block at a specific time or simply set aside a few minutes between now and then, we need to pray that God's Spirit be set free in their hearts this weekend.

Greetings!

This next month is a time of celebration at Advent!

This Sunday we celebrate an important part of our Advent at Arlington heritage: the 100 Year Anniversary of Arlington Presbyterian Church.

The following Sunday we celebrate another aspect of our heritage: the 500 Year Anniversary of the birth of John Calvin.  Calvin's leadership and thoughts led to what has been termed "Reformed Theology" and is foundational to the Presbyterian Church.

And one month from now, on the evening of December 6th we will celebrate Advent Church's 31st Birthday Anniversary.

It is fitting that this is all happening so close to the Thanksgiving Holiday.  We at Advent at Arlington truly have much for which to be thankful!

In the Service of Christ Jesus,
Pastor Don Kerns

Operation Christmas Child

Time is Running Out!

Help poor children around the world to receive a shoebox full of presents this Christmas.  Simply bring your donations and place them in the collection box in the sanctuary by November 15th.

Suggested donations include: shoeboxes, small toys, school supplies, hygiene items, candies, small clothing items, and a personal note.  No liquids, glass, breakables, or toy weapons.  Check donations to help pay for shipping is also appreciated.

This project is being headed up by Zach Johnson and our Huddle Youth Group.

Our Vision
We envision a church of committed disciples who cause God great joy by sharing His love with others as we have seen it in Jesus Christ.
Our Mission

Exalt: Provide an environment in which members and visitors glorify God and celebrate their faith in Jesus Christ as we worship God together.

Equip: Create Biblically literate disciples that witness for Christ, win others to him, and follow Christ as Savior and Lord in their daily lives.

Embrace: Nurture a sincere atmosphere of prayer, care, and sharing as we remain closely united in spirit and encourage one another in the things of God.

Empower: Demonstrate the Gospel as ambassadors of Christ through acts of loving concern, compassion, mission, and service to members, the community, and beyond.

Evangelize: Bring people to faith in Jesus Christ and welcome them into our fellowship.

Excel: To do all we do in excellence so we might glorify God in our efforts.

Our focus is on Worship, Children's Ministries, and Adult Growth Circles
