Advent Arlington's Vacation Bible School is coming soon!
That's right, in one monrth we will have VBS in Arlington. It's from July 27-30 from 6:00-8:15 pm and is for kids from age 4 through those who have completed 6th grade.
On Friday evening, July 31st, we will have a brief closing program then go outside for a cook-out dinner and a celebration complete with bounce toys, cotton candy, and more.
We have a great group of people organizing and leading the VBS, but can still use more teens and adults. If you can help, let Alison Bryan or Susan Morgan or Zach Johnson know. We will have one more planning meeting for VBS on Wednesday July 8th at 6 pm. Childcare will be provided.
Registration forms will be available to hand out by next week. They will also be posted at www.adventarlington.com.

Greetings!
Come cool off with Advent Arlington Church this Sunday afternoon as we have a pool party. Summer is also the time for camps for all ages: whether VBS for the children, Eagle Rock for the middlers, or Heber Springs for the young adults.
Please be in prayer for our nursery worker Mary Ann Thomas as she recovers from surgery. This week we celebrate the birth of Andrew Owen Armstrong to Adam and Mary Armstrong. We also pray for the teens and adults hiking/camping in Colorado on the Rock spiritual retreat, especially our own Zach Johnson and Brianna Orozco.

Men Needed!
Pastor Don is looking for several men to join him on Saturday, July 11th from 8 am to noon to work with fatherless young men in inner-city Memphis. This is through a ministry relationship that Advent has had for some time with Youth Leadership of Memphis.
Each Saturday the young men are given a job doing yardwork. They are taught not only a good work ethic, but given positive male role models. The goal is to teach the young men the principles of respect for authority, discipline, courtesy, tolerance of the views of others, anger management, and compassion for others through work. Each Sunday they are expected to attend a church and worship the Lord.
Advent takes part in this ministry once per quarter and our turn is coming up soon. Let Don know if you want to serve on July 11th. It may push you a little out of your comfort zone, but it is certain to make a difference in someone's life and cause God great joy! |

MIHN Returns to Advent in July!
The homeless families in MIHN will return to Advent's Cordova campus for the week of July 12-19th. Can you serve?
Advent has joined with other churches in the Memphis area to help the homeless through the Memphis Interfaith Hospitality Network (MIHN). Several weeks each year, Advent hosts homeless persons and families in our church facilities. Volunteers are needed each time to care for the people during their stay and to offer them hospitality in the name of Christ.
Each of us has the opportunity to be the "Hands and Feet of Christ" to our less fortunate brothers and sisters in Christ while they are staying with us. There are many opportunities to serve: dinner preparers, evening hosts, overnight hosts, weekend hosts, etc.
Please prayerfully consider how you can share the joy of Christ with our guests during their time with us. To sign up or to obtain further information please phone Amy Barnes at 336-4646. |

Our Vision
We envision a church of committed disciples who cause God great joy by sharing His love with others as we have seen it in Jesus Christ.
Our Mission |
|
Exalt: Provide an environment in which members and visitors glorify God and celebrate their faith in Jesus Christ as we worship God together. Equip: Create Biblically literate disciples that witness for Christ, win others to him, and follow Christ as Savior and Lord in their daily lives. Embrace: Nurture a sincere atmosphere of prayer, care, and sharing as we remain closely united in spirit and encourage one another in the things of God. Empower: Demonstrate the Gospel as ambassadors of Christ through acts of loving concern, compassion, mission, and service to members, the community, and beyond. Evangelize: Bring people to faith in Jesus Christ and welcome them into our fellowship. Excel: To do all we do in excellence so we might glorify God in our efforts.
Our focus is on Worship, Children's Ministries, and Adult Growth Circles
