October Advent @ Arlington

Then they would put their trust in God and would not forget his deeds but would keep his commands.       Psalm 78:7

Together in Arlington at Last!

Sunday, October 26 was the beginning of a brand new start at Advent Arlington.  The level of excitement that hung in the air was palpable and everyone seemed to have a smile on their face that stretched a mile wide.  As the morning progressed both veteran church goers and new leaders gathered together then scattered to begin preparations for one amazing day.

The children of Advent Arlington gathered for their first Sunday in their new "home", now fondly dubbed the Kids Kottage.  The youth headquarters was a home that was given to the church and has been remodeled accordingly to fit its title and accommodate its new guests.  As for our older youth, our teens, they were quick to find a place outside on this beautiful fall day to talk about how they share their joy in the Lord.

It was another beautiful day given to us by our Lord in Christ!

Pinecrest Retreat
PLEASE NOTE: Advent Arlington is heading to Pinecrest for the day on Sunday, November 16th.  We will meet at the church at 10:30 am and carpool to the Pinecrest Retreat Center past Moscow.  It should take a little under an hour to get there.  After arriving we will eat lunch together (all is provided) and meet with our small groups to discuss what's going on and where we're going as a church.  At 1:30 pm we will gather in the beautiful chapel for worship.  You are free to leave following worship, or spend the afternoon enjoying the outdoors.  Be sure to let any guests and friends know about this change.  If you could drive a church van that day please let me know.  It will be a fun day!

Stewardship
Thank you to all who have pledged to give to Advent Church in 2009.  If you have not done so, please prayerfully decide the amount of money you and your family pledge for the coming year, complete a pledge card, and place it in the offering plate on any Sunday.

Christmas Parade
Advent at Arlington will have a float in the Arlington Christmas Parade on Saturday afternoon, December 6th.  We will have our praise band and singers on the float.  We are looking for volunteers to prepare and decorate the float.  Let Don know if you would like to help.

Help Our Children's Ministry
Annette Johnson and Heather Orozco are leading our children's ministry.  They are recruiting teachers and assistant teachers for Sunday mornings.  Let them know if you can help.  Another way you can help our children is by donating new or gently used toys and equipment for our nursery and the Kid's Kottage.  A playground set is also needed.

Praise Team
Our worship leader, Chris Cardona, and the praise team are still open to more musicians and singers.  If you are interested, give Chris a call at 901-849-8219 or just show up at rehearsal.  Praise Team Rehearsal is at the Arlington Church each Wednesday at 7:00 pm.
