Front Office News

Did you know that after school hours Meredith has been pursuing a degree in Art History at George Mason University?  As part of her course of study, she will be doing a geo-archeology Study Abroad session in Rome, Italy from Jan. 3-17.  During her time away, Or Granek, Mrs. Granek's son, will be minding the front desk and checking Meredith's voice and e-mail daily.

Chanukah Musical!
Bravo to our hardworking cast and crew on an exciting performance last night!  If you missed it, or want an encore, you can see it online.  Visit https://www.gesher-jds.org/parents.php to get the link and the password to see and download the whole show.  To protect the privacy of our students, do not post the video or link on any public site.  This is provided for the use and enjoyment of Gesher families.

You are encouraged to download and save the video yourself and create your own disc.  However, if you prefer, Mrs. Seibold will burn discs of the performance for you for $10/disc.  Funds raised will be applied to the Technology Department.  To order, contact Mrs. Seibold at hseibold@gesher-jds.org.

Congratulations to P'nina McCabe and our Makhelah (Choir) and our Klezmer Band for setting the festive mood.  Yasher Koach to our middle school band, The Chess Club.  Well done, 7th and 8th grade students, on the engaging Tzedek
Fair.

Modiin University and the Shtetl Fair
Our Chanukah fun continues at Gesher Jewish Day School!  Many thanks to our community rabbis who came in to teach our Middle School students today.  Rabbi Jack Moline of Agudas Achim Congregation taught "Build Your Own Chanukah," Rabbi Jeffrey Saxe of Temple Rodef Shalom taught "Identity, Assimilation, and the Holidays in America," and Rabbi Shlomo Adler of Chabad of Northern Virginia taught "What's Inside the Oil."  Meanwhile in Kitah Bet and Kitah Gimel the students played out a market fair in a shtetl, not unlike Anatevka.  If you know a student in the Gan ask to hear "I Have a Little Dreidle" in Yiddish and if you know a student in Kitah Alef ask to hear "Oy Chanukah Oy Chanukah"- also in Yiddish.  Kitah Dalet and Hay Kitah have illustrated scenes from the shtetl which we have hung around the halls.

On the Bridge
Although Mrs. Strouse will be out on her maternity leave come January, please continue to send all items for On the Bridge to her email address: lstrouse@gesher-jds.org.  We'll take them from there.
