So is everyone sick of the rain? Can you believe it? This is not Seattle rain which generally does not require the use of an umbrella. We boast that life goes on in the rain, that the kids have recess, we go about our lives in this misty climate. This brings to mind words like "deluge", "downpour" and "squall"! No skipping through the raindrops with this stuff - you are wet to the bones if you don't have head to foot rain gear! One can only hope that Spring will be here soon, and console ourselves that, as many customers have commented "At least it's not snow."

Hopefully we've seen the end of snow for this year, and it is time to look toward Spring! We've been busy ordering lots of new clothing, jewelry, scarves and purses for Spring, as well as more Whiskey Stones, which we'd run out of, colorful glass tealight holders, new aprons for the hostess with the most-ess, delightful potholders for either host or hostess, and much, much more! It's such a nice time of year to bring some fresh color to your life, be it candles, pretty soap, a new purse and scarf.

This is also the time of year to invest in your skin so it will be moisturized and smooth when the time comes to let our toes out of the boots and our legs and arms out from under the layers of clothing. Apply moisturizing lotions right after bathing to seal moisture into the skin and bring it back to its glowing healthy self!

     Zents Petal Group

We have some fabulous choices for moisturizing: Zents products are fabulously scented, made with the highest quality ingredients and are luxurious to use. Their lotion penetrates immediately to below the surface of your skin, improving appearance and feel, including cuticles and rough heels, and comes in ten wonderful, complex scents. Their soap, made with shea butter is moisturizing enough to use as shaving soap, and the body wash, as well, leaves your skin soft after use. For very dry patches, try the concreta, another shea butter based product, that is heavily scented enough to be used as a solid perfume! All these are available through our web store, too.

Sweet Petula Lotions

If you prefer a lotion that stays on the top layer of your skin and leaves it feeling very silky, try Seattle made Sweet Petula lotions. These milky white lotions come in four fragrances, each having a balanced blend of citrus and floral notes. Their soap is a great addition, very handsomely packaged, and paired with the square bath salt tablets make a delightful gift!

            Olivina Soap

And last, but not least, is Olivina hand cream in a handy 2.5 oz. tube. Their fragrances are very "green" - olive, meyer lemon, and the new favorite, honeysuckle rose. Not being a fan of rose scent, I was worried about this one, but it is wonderful. We stock bubble bath in that scent as well as soap - it is so feminine and romantic. (See a  selection on our online catalog). Again, a lovely gift for someone dear, or yourself. Because there is something so basic, so nurturing about caring for your skin!

Now Forming -

Kristin Ford and Extasia Jewelry Clubs

Let us know via email (use the Contact form on the website) or in the store if you would like to be a part of our new "jewelry clubs". We will notify you as we receive new shipments, have special promotions or events around these two jewelry lines. Sometimes, as with the recent Extasia group we received, the jewelry will only be available for a few days, and we may not know too much ahead of time when it will arrive. Other times we will announce a new shipment. And that's what I would like to do today! We have just received a beautiful, fresh collection of Kristin Ford Jewelry for Spring! Plenty of soft Spring colors, beautiful tones of blue and green, some pink and lavender and yellow. And some brights just to jazz everything up! So come in soon! And to take advantage of a future "first pick", join one or both groups today!

Ken Doll

This is the 1961 Version - he looks a bit

dazed, doesn't he? A little out of his league with

                            Barbie do you think?

March 15 - Beware the Ides of March - stems from the fact

that Julius Caesar was assassinated on this

day in 44 B.C. Ides was the word for

fifteenth and referred to the fifteenth

of March, May, July and October, and the

thirteenth of all other months, probably

                       denoting the full moon.

Julius Caesar was on his way to the Theatre

Pompey when he saw a seer who had

foretold that harm would come to him no

later than the Ides of March. Caesar

joked, "Well the Ides of March have come,"

to which the seer replied "Ay, they have

come, but they are not gone." Later that

day, at the Roman Senate, Caesar was

                       stabbed 23 times.

March 23 - Toast Day - not as exciting as Bavarian Crepes,
but I must confess that toast with butter
and a bit of honey may be my favorite
                       bedtime snack!

This will be a convenient place for you to check for announcements regarding events going on in the store, new arrivals, artist info, fun facts and musings by yours truly. This will allow us to let everyone know about things that happen spontaneously, like the recent Extasia Jewelry collection we had in the store for just a few days this month, or arrivals of merchandise from new artists, or those we know people are always excited about.

We hope you find this to be a useful addition to our website! And don't forget to become our fan on Facebook to be in touch and hear about specials, contests and general goings-on!
