October is here - the month of Halloween fun and activities! Remember to come to Wallingford Center from 3-7 on Halloween for Trick-or-Treating and lots of family friendly fun! Click on the Wallingford Center link at the left to find out more.

October is also Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  I don't know about you, but I am more and more aware of friends, relatives and customers who are dealing with their own and loved ones' battles with this disease. Please support cancer research, and as my childhood friend Melinda says, after her cancer was found during a routine mammogram, "Don't put it off - go get your mammogram!!!!"

Our Annual Kristin Ford Trunk Show is slated for Saturday October 25. A great time to do some shopping for yourself or to get a start on gifts, Kristin always brings a dazzling array of jewels, including many one-of-a-kind necklaces and earrings. So mark it on your calendar, bring a friend and make an afternoon of it!

Planning for the Holidays
October is a sneaky month! We focus on Halloween and before we know it, the month is gone! Witness this newsletter - my intention was that it go out at the beginning of the month, but here it is, nearing the end! It's a busy month, settling into new patterns of light, temperature and activities.

But October is a great month to begin planning for the holidays beyond Halloween. We have been busy ordering for months so that the store is full of great gifts for you to choose from, and a lot of it has come in already. In an effort to help you plan your gift giving budget this year we are promoting our Lay-Away Program. This is something we've always offered - a bit old-fashioned, I know, but I love lay-away. It's how I bought clothes for college and my first sewing machine. The great thing is, you don't pay interest to some credit card company! Plus it helps us practice delayed gratification:)

For the Holiday Season we've put a bit of a spin on it, pre-wrapping for you, to save you time as well!

Here's the deal: You give us at least 25% down on the purchase, tell us what the occasion is, fill out your gift tag, and we will wrap your gift appropriately. All you need to do is pay the balance within 60 days and pick up your gift, ready to give!

For another convenience, check out our Online Catalog - see the link to the left. While not everything in Crackerjack is available online, we have chosen some of the most popular items and things that make great gifts for all the names on your list! And right now, we're offering FREE shipping on orders of $70.00 and more placed online!

And don't forget about the friends and relatives who want to shop for You! So many people these days love knowing about special stores like Crackerjack you would enjoy receiving a gift from, rather than from the impersonal national chains.

Another great idea is Gift Certificates. We can make them up for any amount you would like and package them as a gift in a box with ribbon, so the recipient has something to open, and it's not obvious from the packaging what it is.

So embrace October, get out your lists, and let us help alleviate some of the stress associated with a season that we all want to be fun and joyful, not nerve wracking!
NEXT MONTH: Over the River and Through the Woods...
Remember these things the next couple of weeks:
1. Schedule a mammogram.
2. Vote on November 4.
3. Attend the Kristin Ford Event at Crackerjack Sat. Oct. 25.
4. Bring your holiday shopping list and start your shopping.

And have a very safe, fun and spooky Halloween!!!
