MUUSJA Connection

Minnesota Unitarian Universalist Social Justice Alliance
 September 9, 2011

Greetings!

The shorter daylight means fall nears, and the return of a busy congregational year is upon us! MUUSJA has plenty in store for all of us seeking action towards justice.

Key events in September, see below, include a big interfaith kick-off event against the anti-marriage amendment on Monday the 19th.

Then, bring your family and friends to enjoy a stunning new Heart of the Beast puppet (embracing First Universalist's inflatable Earth ball) leading a faith procession to start the huge and very exciting day of action for the earth: Moving Planet-Moving Faith on Saturday, September 24th!

We're at work with partners across the UU Advocacy Network to plan for state-level training, advocacy and coordination at next year's "Justice" General Assembly in Phoenix.  And watch for details of the Prairie Star District's spring 2012 conference - it's right here in Minnesota next April.

Walk for MUUSJA. Walk for Justice.
Enjoy Minnesota's beautiful fall colors, meet and walk with fellow UUs, and help MUUSJA to continue to achieve our goals for LGBT rights, open and fair elections, climate justice and racial equity. Please join us in our MUUSJA Walk for Justice - or make a pledge - Sunday, October 2nd. Details are below and on the web.
Thank you!

Met Council Affirmative Action Meeting

Central Corridor construction made news Sunday: Hiawatha Line contractors paid millions of dollars to settle federal claims of misleading filings and failures to use diverse firms in construction.  The Star Tribune now reports that three of those companies are at work on the Central Corridor.  You can help HIRE Minnesota & MUUSJA's Racial Equity workgroup hold these companies accountable for future performance by joining us at the next Central Corridor Affirmative Action meeting!  We need to pack the room with citizens - no experience needed, just your eyes, ears and concern!
