Join senior representatives from the U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency (EPA), the Dept of the Interior, the U.S. Dept
of Agriculture, the Council on Environmental Quality and the U.S.
Dept of Defense for a public listening session and local discussion on conservation, recreation, and reconnecting people to the
outdoors.
This
is a great opportunity to interact with the EPA and the Administration
to show support for regulating greenhouse gases. What good is a great outdoors if climate change is likely to wreak havoc on our ecosystems? Session starts at 4 pm, but attend for whatever portion you are able.
The Climate Misinformation Campaign that Confused America Wednesday, August 11 6:00 pm Cowles Auditorium at the Humphrey Center U of M West Bank 301 19th Avenue South, Minneapolis
Join Will Steger, Polar Explorer and Dr. Naomi Oreskes, author of Merchants of Doubt for this insightful look at shifting public opinion. A recent study from the Yale Project on Climate Change indicated
40% of Americans believe there is major scientific disagreement as to
whether global warming is real, yet the vast majority of climate
scientists fully believe in the phenomenon. Oreskes, a
science historian, explains what - or who - is to blame for this
misinformation conundrum.
The event is free and open to the public.
Guests who
would like to meet Dr. Oreskes are welcome to purchase a ticket to a
reception hosted by the Will Steger Foundation, which will be held
immediately prior to the discussion.
