Greetings!
Here's the latest info on our work together for marriage equality.  UUO4M meets next week, and the big People of Faith rally for Freedom to Marry is coming up fast.  And, we're looking forward to General Assembly and Twin Cities Pride the last weekend in June.

UUs Out 4 Marriage - Monthly work group meeting
Monday, February 1st
7:00 - 9:00 pm
First Universalist Church, room 206
3400 Dupont Ave S, Minneapolis

Get ready to Rally!  Also, our "Beyond 'Duh': UU Youth Speak on Marriage Equality" workshop has been accepted for General Assembly this June - so we need to work towards that.  First Unitarian Society has pledged to take the lead on placing a float in this year's Pride Parade (coinciding with GA Sunday) and UUO4M wants at least 500 UUs to march with the float.  We can do this!!

FaithRally Faith Rally at the Capitol - I Do Support Love!
Thursday, February 11th
8:30 - 9:30 am
Minnesota State Capitol
Rotunda
75 Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard
St. Paul, Minnesota

Make your sign, put on your Standing on the Side of Love tee shirt, or grab a friend and your congregation's banner!  Head over to the capitol to show your support for enacting marriage equality legislation in Minnesota. Clergy and faith leaders will lead us in an inspiring rally for justice.  FFI Ralph rwmuusja@gmail.com

January UUO4M Meeting Highlights
01/04/2010, @ Michael Servetus UU

We reviewed outreach to clergy for Feb. 11th Rally, info to congregations about signs/banners: banners are welcome, no poles, people must stand with banners on upper tiers of Rotunda.  Posterboard signs welcome, no sticks to hold them up.

Standing on the Side of Love (SSL) campaign.  In looking broadly at our UU values - in light of the Kentucky shooting last year at a UU congregation - there was a decision to focus on our values and how to stand up for them, how to face those who so strongly oppose our progressive religious values.
The two groups most addressed in SSL are LGBT and immigrants.
Feb 14th is SSL day (tied in with Freedom to Marry week/Valentines).  A day to go out and stand in solidarity w/ LGBT people in the community.  Work for full equality - that means for immigrants, LGBT, anybody subject to discriminatory actions.
Discussion of perhaps launching an SSL Facebook page to be ready to act fast in the face of oppression - as allies.

General Assembly: Saturday at Pride - noon UU Public Witness event at Pride mainstage.  Perhaps get couples from NY, CA, Oregon to talk about how the state-by-state voting on rights experience.  Need to plan the advocacy ask.  MUUSJA will be assisting UUA with this event.
Sunday Pride Parade - starts 45 minutes after morning worship at G.A. ends.  Plenary will conflict with part of the parade time, but not all G.A. attendees sit in on all of plenary.  Parade won't be officially on G.A. list of activities, MUUSJA, other UU State Networks can promote.
Volunteers needed at GA-Pride event:
- Sell food tickets (witness event is over lunch break, many food vendors in Pride festival)
- Guide people to Loring Park from Convention Center
- Mainstage program planning group
- Sunday Parade
- Will UU clergy perform weddings in the park? (some area clergy do this)
For volunteer info, contact Ralph 612-998-6624 rwmuusja@gmail.com

Next UUO4M meetings: Feb 1 at First Universalist, March 1 location T.B.A.

If you like to dance and you want to help support District 202, there is an LGBT Valentines Adult Prom benefit event on Saturday, February 13th.

Thanks for your support of our UU values in Action!
