OUTFRONT MN's LGBT LOBBY DAY
Greetings!

As spring days lengthen, the opportunities for UUs to mobilize and be visible are sprouting!  MUUSJA urges you to turn out for one, two, or three public witness and advocacy actions in the Twin Cities area this month.

As Aboriginal activist Lilla Watson says "If you have come here to help me, you are wasting your time. But if you have come because your liberation is tied up with mine, then let us work together."

Now is a time when we need to come together to further the causes of liberation!  MUUSJA works with partner organizations so that both our Unitarian Universalist and coalition voices can be stronger.

We hope you will take two steps: One - plan to attend one or more of these public actions.  We realize that for some, these events are during the workday.  Please consider using a lunchtime for a noon rally, or leaving work a bit early or taking a morning off for an action.  They are that important!

Two - invite your friends & fellow congregants.  These events rely on turnout to communicate to elected officials, policy leaders and our communities that we are passionate and moblized for our causes.

Sharing our voices for the common good helps us stay energized and be in community.  We look forward to seeing you soon!

Our government is making big decisions about how to stimulate our economy, at a time when climate change is one of the most serious threats facing the world.  We can find solutions to our crumbling economy and our environmental crisis by investing in green jobs and smart infrastructure!

Join HIRE Minnesota in rallying for investments that can help ease the climate crisis and create living wages for low-income communities and communities of color.

HIRE Minnesota is a coalition of more than 60 organizations - including MUUSJA - coming together to seek jobs for low-income people and people of color in the healthcare, infrastructure and renewable energy industries.

In order to make these jobs and training programs a reality, we need your help. Join 20,000 of us showing our support on Monday, April 20.

Join with UUs on this legacy issue.  We regularly turn out 300-500 UUs to this Lobby Day.  This year we can celebrate the major equality decision in Iowa!

Please work with others at your congregation to bring your banner, and if you have a Standing on the Side of Love t-shirt, wear it to show our proud UU tradition of LGBT activism.

This year MUUSJA is participating in a People of Faith Allies roundtable, and the roundtable is hosting a special Faith workshop at 9 a.m. at the Lobby Day Institute: Getting Beyond "DUH!" - religious youth teaching adults about LGBT marriage equality.  Come hear how future leaders view this major issue!

Lobby appointments are held throughout the day, based on your representatives availablitiy.  Registering in advance is encouraged for lobby visits.  NOON Rally attendance is for everyone!  MUUSJA looks forward to seeing many UU faces in the jubilant and powerful crowds at JustFair Lobby Day.

Iowa Court rules for Marriage Equality
UUs are mobilizing support now!!
Equality Under the Law
UUs Out 4 Marriage, a MUUSJA working group, meet this evening (and on the first Monday night of each month) to strategize for LGBT equality in Minnesota.

With the Iowa ruling, we believe there will be increased pressure on both sides of this issue here in Minnesota, so UUs need to organize.

And we need to stand ready to support efforts in Iowa to protect the advances gained last Friday in Iowa.  Marriage equality opponents are already mobilizing for a 2-3 year effort to overturn this historic decision!

Join us tonight or in future months as we stand together on the side of love.
