GET DIRTY THIS WEKEND by Kelly Heath, Retail Manager |

Since it's time to get dirty I thought I'd talk about some of our favourite annuals this season! May long weekend is fast approaching so it's time to think about what colour combinations you want to accent your yard this season! These pictures I actually took in our own greenhouse!
PETUNIA PAPAYA
This unusual coloured petunia was an instant winner when we pulled it from the greenhouse this spring. New for 2011 it's excellent in baskets and planters and it continues to flower all season long! As with all petunias it does love full sun.
It would look fantastic with coral Verbena or deep purple Potato Vines

YALAHA COLEUS
A heat tolerant coleus with beautiful multicoloured leaves of purple, vibrabt red and chartreuse. Give it bright light for best colour! Adds drama to planters or the garden, excellent filler!Grows 36" x 36"

CORAL VERBENA
Daintly sun loving flowers atop bright green foliage. This verbena is an excellent trailing vine in pots and baskets. The multi coloured flowers are a mix of dark to soft corals. Very unusual and striking. We've planted it in our Victorian Hanging Baskets with Petunia Lobster and deep purple Cordyline.

CALIBRACHOA TIKI HOT PINK
Dainty brilliant coloured flowers on trailing vines. Calibrachoas love the heat so plant them where they get full sun! They come in a rainbow of colours but this one is by far my favourite this season! Looks great with Diamond Frost and Blackie Potato Vine.
There's so many more that I could go on and on but instead I invite you to come out and browse for yourself. The annuals are colour blocked again this year for easy designing. For those of you who are thinking "colourblocking? What's that?". Last season, we started organizing all the annuals and perennials by colour instead of name as we found that most garderners design and plant by colour preference. So, for example,if you decide to do pinks this season all the shades of pink flowers and their accents are togther in one row. Each row is identified by a painted window at the end of the aisle.

Hope to see you soon!
Kelly
