Have you started browsing the gardening magazines? They really serve as a little horticultural therapy for us gardeners in the cold winter months. From what we are reading, 2011 stands to be an amazing year as more and more people choose to buy local and the trend towards growing your own veggies continues to pick up speed.

Spring is coming!

NEW FOR 2011
black petuniaHave you seen the new black petunia? Very funky. We're thinking of paring them with diamond frost euphorbia and the chartreuse potato vine 'Marguerite'.

Let me know what you think they'd look good with either through email on our facebook page. I'll post the combos in our next email!

 SEEDS

The seeds have arrived! Come check out our wall of seeds which includes lots of great veggie varieties, an organic line from Aimers and the bulk seeds for the serious growers.

All the flowers of all the tomorrows are in the seeds of today.

One of the healthiest ways to gamble is with a spade and a package of garden seeds.

On my 'have to have' list for 2011:

The sweet 'Easter Egg' radish which grow in stunning shades of white, red, purple, pink and violet.

Peas 'Little Marvel' which are a sweet tender heritage variety on dwarf vines.

Lettuce 'Buttercrunch' doesn't the name say it all with this one? Crisp sweet tender leaves (I can't wait)

We also have a great seeding and growing mix available as well as everything else you may need to start growing your own this season; seed trays, packs, domes, rooting hormone etc.

ARE YOU ITCHING FOR A LITTLE DIRT UNDER YOUR FINGERNAILS?

The greenhouses are fired up and we've started planting for spring 2011. The sweet smell of soil and plants gives us a breath of spring. The dirt is back under the fingernails again and it feels great. The cuttings just arrived and everyone has been busy planting up geraniums, petunias, portulaca, lobelias and calibrachoas the last few days. There's lots of new and interesting varieties for 2011.

For those of you itching to get your hands in the dirt we'll be holding our ever popular Victorian Hanging Basket Workshops starting in March.

Get inside and out of the cold this March with our annual Victorian Workshop series. A fun way to be creative while getting your hands dirty!
