SARRITOR: New eco-defense in the battle against Dandelions!
Most gardeners have not heard of this new product available for the first time ever to the retail market. Sarritor is a naturally occurring fungus that is native to Canada. It was developed at Mc Gill University to kill dandelions and other broad leaf weeds, it DOES NOT harm grass. The fungus grows into the weed and absorbs the plant tissue until the weed is completely gone. Once the weed is eliminated the fungus dies and no residual is left. This takes about 5-7 days. It has been used by the commercial lawn care companies prior to its introduction in to the retail market.
Best Time to Apply?
It is recommended to apply in the spring & the fall when dandelions are actively growing. It is most effective when the daytime temperatures are between 18C - 24C. Watering your lawn before application ensures the best results, it requires moisture to work.
**Avoid applying on hot & dry days with temperatures above 25C.
How much will it cover?
One container of Sarritor treats approximately 750 dandelions. Like Nematodes it has to be refrigerated. It has about an 8-10 week shelf life but unlike nematodes does not have to be used all at once.
Can it harm other plants?
It can harm other broadleaf plants such as perennials, annuals and vegetables so careful application directly to undesirable weeds is essential. It comes in a brilliantly designed container that pre-measures the exact amount to apply to each weed.
Is it safe?
Yes it is 100% safe for children and pets. You can walk on the lawn immediately after application. However it is recommended to wait 3 days before heavy traffic or mowing in order to let the product establish in the weeds and start working.
