Dear
I hope you are enjoying the heat. I believe this is the first time I can say this, this year! Hopefully we can finally enjoy some summer before it's over.
This is the time of year at the garden centre that we love to see our mum field. It's so full and green. It's too bad that it's out of sight to you. Just to give you an idea, it's the size of two NFL football feids and holds 30,000 plants! This picture only shows a portion. Come and decorate your garden this year with fall colour that's grown right here in Smiths Falls.
We are still calculating our Member Reward program and should have your 2% saving on your card ready to spend shortly. You know how it is......"COMPUTERS!"
So enjoy the sumer heat while it lasts!
Take care and have a terrific day.

MUM'S THE WORD
Greetings to all our Gemmell's gardeners. Here's a quick update about the recent goings on at the Garden Centre. The mums have just started to flower and we've loaded up the greenhouse with them in some really fabulous colours. They are a great choice for adding a splash of colour in your garden this time of year. There's also everything you need to design your own fall planters; Ornamental Grasses, Sedums, Dianthus, Winter Survivor Pansies, Millet and Asters. Also be sure to check out the perennial Hibiscus that are in bloom. These hardy stunners have huge showy flowers that span 8" across in pink, white, and deep maroon......simply breathtaking! JUST IN! The nursery has just had a makeover with a shipment of fresh nursery stock arriving and it looks gorgeous! Lots of late summer flowering shrubs to add dimension to your gardens. Here are a few to tempt you and they are all 30% off:
Hydrangeas we have both 'PeeGee' and 'Phantom' varieties of the Hydrangea paniculata family which grow about 6 ft in height. Both are great for late summer blooms that turn a pinkish hue as the season progresses. There are also the most fantastic looking Pink Diamond Hydrangea Standards, they are perfectly shaped and just starting to flower.
Tiger Eyes Sumac this fiery looking Sumac with its brilliant yellow cut leaves is an excellent accent in the garden. It turns a brilliant orange in fall. This shrub will definitely make your garden unique to all the neighbours.
Dappled Willow what can we say about this one, other than it is the hottest selling shrub of 2009! We could not keep this delicate wispy beauty in stock this season and had waiting lists of people wanting them. Variegated white and green leaves tinged slightly with pink blow gracefully in the wind adding movement and beauty to your garden.
City Line Hydrangea 'Venice' these mop head hydrangeas in brilliant pink are a standout in the garden. A smaller shrub growing only 3 ft it makes an excellent planting for the front of the border. The glossy leaves turn a really nice deep purple in the fall.
Rosy Glow Barberry this interesting plant has burgundy leaves that are mottled with splashes of pink. An excellent hardy shrub for your garden grows about 3-4ft in height and makes an unusual accent. Definitely a 'must-have'! Well I could go on & on because there are more gorgeous shrubs that we've brought in as well as a great selection of trees, evergreens and perennials still available at 30 % off and with the HOME TAX CREDIT offered by the government it's like you're saving twice! HAPPY GARDENING! Our shrub, tree, evergreen and perennials sale continues this week with EVERYTHING 30% off (Luna Hibiscus excluded). We have a great selection!
It's a great time to plant especially with the Home Tax Credit offered by the government this year; be sure to keep all your receipts! |

FALL NEMATODES |
|
We are currently compiling a customer request list for the fall application of nematodes. If you are having troubles with grubs in your lawn, then be sure to call to add your name to the list as we bring them in solely based on customer requests as they have a shelf life of only about 6 weeks. Grubs have a spring/fall life cycle. Fall applications provide a very high efficiency (kill) rate as the grubs are usually smaller and closer to the surface. Fall apps also help prevent spring grub damage.
