Top 5 reasons to buy ART as a gift1. Paintings are not just for art lovers; they can be for anyone who loves the subject depicted in the painting: animals, birds, flowers, butterflies, shoes, children, nature, and sports. 2. Art is thoughtful. Every painting has a story behind it 3. Art is unexpected and unique. Most of us do not expect a gift of art for Valentines' Day, Birthday, or Anniversary. Why not give something different and more personal? 4. Art is easy to buy. Visit area galleries such as 20th Street Art Gallery in midtown Sacramento or Hang It Up Gallery in El Dorado Hills. The friendly, knowledgeable staff will help you select just the right piece. They can answer any questions you may have about the artists, media, technique, or about shipping, returns, or anything else. 5. Art can be affordable. If original artwork is too expensive for your budget try limited edition Giclee prints which are often priced at $200 and under. Where else can you get such a beautiful and thoughtful gift for so little?

Sacramento News and Review
Watch for the February 26th issue of the Sacramento News and Review.
There will be an interesting article featuring me and several of my artist friends including metal sculptor Kristen Hoard, who uses recycled metal in her fabulous sculptures. Check out her amazing work on her website: http://www.metalphoria.com/. The article will focus on the emerging trends of artists embracing environmental concerns in their work. Yes, my artwork is indeed "Green," as I recycle discarded magazines. My collage paintings are composed of many layers of torn magazine papers; the images are NOT painted as many observers often think at first glance. The Sacramento News and Review is found at newsstands, coffee shops, and other retail establishments in the downtown and midtown areas of Sacramento.

Favorite Artist quote of the week:
"I always thought that one of the reasons why a painter likes especially to have other painters look at his or her work is the shared experience of having pushed paint around."
Chuck Close
