In December 2008, TriQuint hosted Lee Hochberg, correspondent for the popular PBS show.  TriQuint's strategy to focus on multiple communications markets such as handsets, networks, and defense has been deemed "sensible" by analysts.  The news segment, which aired January 22, highlighted TriQuint's Handset story, and its success in the smartphone market.  View video here.

Ralph QuinseyTriQuint's Ralph Quinsey Named "CEO of the Year"
TriQuint's President and CEO, Ralph Quinsey, received the Portland Business Journal's "CEO of the Year" award for technology companies in Oregon. "CEO of the Year" awards are a new category of the Journal's annual Most Admired Companies Program. Mr. Quinsey was nominated for his "tremendous leadership and accomplishments within TriQuint."
Record High RevenueQ3 2008 Earnings and Highlights
TriQuint reported a record breaking third quarter (July - September 30) of 2008 with revenues of $186.3 million.  Ralph Quinsey, President and CEO, stated "TriQuint delivered unprecedented revenue growth in the quarter and solid bottom line results. Each of our markets is contributing to our growth. Looking forward I see a strong and healthy new product pipeline and I am enthusiastic about TriQuint's ability to deliver shareholder value." Strong growth in 3G handset and wireless LAN products sales combined with a full quarter of results from WJ Communications drove the increase.
TriQuint Updates Guidance for Fourth Quarter 2008
On December 16, TriQuint issued an update, stating significant order push-outs and a drop in new orders have reduced anticipated Q4 revenue to a range of $140 million to $145 million, down from previous estimate of $160 million to $175 million. At the new range midpoint projected for Q4, revenue for 2008 is expected to be approximately 19% above revenue for 2007. The release stated "We believe TriQuint remains well-positioned financially and strategically heading into 2009, with ample cash reserves, continued market share gains, and a strong technical roadmap."  Q4 earnings will be issued February 11, 2009 at 2pm Pacific.

New Foundry ProcessesBuild Commercial mmWave Applications with Our New Processes
TriQuint offers two new 150mm high-volume GaAs processes, TQP25 andTQP15, for cost-effectively building commercial mmWave applications. These new pHEMT processes utilize optical lithography technology to substantially reduce cost when compared to traditional E-beam based solutions. TriQuint's commercial foundry pHEMT offerings cover the entire range of mmW frequencies. 
 
Large Hadron ColliderTriQuint Technology Powers Big Bang ICs
IPtronics utilized a TriQuint foundry process to develop ICs used in the Large Hadron Collider experiment in Switzerland.  The ICs are part of experiments which will investigate proton-proton collisions.  We look forward to seeing the results of the "world's largest scientific experiment" when the LHC comes back online in 2009.

UCSD Demonstrates Record PAE using TriQuint Devices 
A University of CA at San Diego study of 3G base station amplifiers shows the highest ever power added efficiency (PAE) - 58% - Record PAEwas achieved using TriQuint GaAs HV-HBT devices. More efficient transistors lower base station energy bills while reducing waste heat. The study also reports the best linearization improvement, making these devices very designer-friendly. Top Performing GPS DevicesNew GPS Front-End Module for Next-Generation Designs 
TriQuint brings a new level of integration to personal navigation products through its new TQM640002. This high-rejection GPS module incorporates an E/D pHEMT GaAs LNA along with TriQuint's smallest 2-in-1 SAW filter. The module is ultra compact, and at 3x3mm it's ideal for wireless handsets, other PND and auto GPS applications. Designers can learn specifics about automotive GPS in this article from TriQuint. TriQuint Releases New Handset RF Module Family 
TriQuint unveiled its latest family of RF Modules for New Module Familyhandset manufacturers. The 7x4mm, TRITIUM II PA-Duplexer Module™ family supports the CDMA protocol for PCS, AWS and Cellular bands with a 30% smaller footprint. The modules offer customers a complete front end solution for multi-band CDMA handsets.
North Carolina Design CenterNorth Carolina Handset Design Team Expands
In 2006, TriQuint established its North Carolina Design Center. To accommodate the growing team of RF engineers, technicians, marketing & sales, the NCDC recently moved into a new facility in High Point, NC. The new NCDC is double the size of the previous and can accommodate future growth. The team supports TriQuint's growing GSM/EDGE/WEDGE business for mobile handset manufacturers.

New PowerBandWatch the educational video!  TriQuint has unveiled its revolutionary new PowerBand™ discrete RF transistor family that offers unmatched wide-band performance and power added efficiency (PAE) of 50% or more. TriQuint's new technology is ideally suited for broadband applications including radar, signal jammer and wireless communications. PowerBand™ achieves high power performance (up to 50 Watts) and unprecedented bandwidth coverage (500 MHz to 3 GHz) without sacrificing efficiency. PowerBand™ debuted November 17th at MILCOM 2008.

$4.5M Navy ContractTriQuint Earns $4.5M Navy Contract
The Office of Naval Research has awarded TriQuint a $4.5 million contract for high-power, high-frequency GaAs amplifier R&D. TriQuint was chosen based on its experience developing high-performance, high-reliability amplifiers for a wide range of defense and aerospace applications. "Winning this contract demonstrates the government's confidence in TriQuint's ability to develop critical technologies for Department of Defense applications," explained Dr. David Fanning, Contract Program Manager.
TriQuint honored by RaytheonRaytheon Honors TriQuint with Top Award
TriQuint was honored by Raytheon's Space and Airborne Systems division with its top, four-star Supplier Excellence Award. Fifteen companies were honored at the annual event; only TriQuint and one other supplier achieved top recognition.
