July Open Networking Meeting:
Innovations in Distribution to Restaurants and Caterers
 
Over the course of the next year, FSNYC will be hosting a series of Open Networking Meetings focused on distribution in the food system. In July, we're putting together an exciting panel to discuss both challenges and innovative solutions in distribution to restaurants and caterers.

Bloomberg's Plan to Ban Large Sizes of Sugary Beverages Draws Mixed Response

Mayor Bloomberg recently announced plans to enact a ban on the sale of sugary drinks larger than 16 ounces in delis, fast food chains, and sports arenas, citing rising rates of obesity in NYC and the country. Rosalin Luetum and Gabrielle Blavatsky explore the the issue.

On June 6th, Food Chain Workers Alliance, Alliance for a Greater New York, and the United Food and Commercial Workers union Local 1500 hosted a conference at CUNY Graduate Center that brought together food workers with interested attendees to discuss how food worker rights fit into the broader sustainable food movement.

Food Systems Network NYC joins the NYC School Meals Coalition in advocating that breakfast be provided in every classroom in NYC.
