HOLIDAY OPEN NETWORKING MEETING


Please join us for our December 14th Open Networking holiday meeting and view Living Concrete/Carrot City, a multi-media urban agriculture exhibit at The New School. The exhibit features creative research projects and design interventions that examine connections between people and food production that affect neighborhoods, health and the environment. Faculty and students engaged in mapping urban food and water systems in New York are collaborating in this experimental installation. Speakers will be co-curators Nevin Cohen and Radhika Subramaniam.

When: Open Networking meeting from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. Program from 12:30 -1:00.  Exhibit opens at noon.

Interview with the New Citywide School Gardens Coordinator, Erica Keberle

IGrow to Learn NYC Logon May, Mayor Bloomberg announced the launch of a new school gardens initiative, now known as the Grow to Learn NYC: Citywide School Gardens Initiative. We asked Erica Keberle, the new Citywide School Gardens Coordinator for GrowNYC to tell us about the structure of the new program and describe some of the things it aims to accomplish for school gardens.
Remembering the Past, Looking to the Future at the Black Farmers Conference 
 
The first annual Black Farmers and Urban Gardeners Conference took place on the campus of Brooklyn College from November 19-21. Learn about some of the important issues discussed at the conference in this insightful article by Rachel Dobkin.
Seniors Bring Healthy Food to Communities

This video showcases the work of three groups where seniors are taking the lead to bring healthy food to their communities. Through educational programs and community involvement, these seniors are creating opportunities to teach their neighbors about healthy eating and the importance of fresh foods.
