The November Open Networking meeting will take place from 12:30-2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 16th at the Fund for the City of New York.  Please stay tuned for an announcement of the meeting program in the coming days.

Farm School NYC Accepting Applications 
 
On September 30, Just Food and partners announced the launch of New York City's first urban agriculture training program at Farm School NYC. If you are interested in learning more about urban agriculture while living in the city, the application deadline in November 15.

Ed Yowell continues the "Farm Views" series with the third and final installment on the complicated relationships between immigration policy and farming at both the state and national levels.
The Great Soda Debate in New York City

In the beginning of October, Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced a proposal to ban the use of food stamps on soda and other sugared-beverages. This ignited an ongoing public debate between public health and anti-hunger advocates all over the nation.

The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene released this video with the aim to educate New Yorkers about the truth behind soda consumption and continue the effort to raise awareness about the dangers of ingesting nutrient-poor and high-calorie foods.
