Mom Seeks Help, Then Pays It Forward
Six months ago the Great Plains Food Bank received an email from a young mother who heard about our mission of the Great Plains Food Bank at a work event. Rebecca was transitioning between apartments when her 15 year old van broke down. Her expenses were now more than her income, and she wasn't sure how she would feed her kids until her next paycheck. She turned to the GPFB for help and we were able to get her back on her feet by providing food for her family through one of our partner agencies.  "If it weren't for someone from the Food Bank talking to my company I wouldn't have had any idea where to turn" states Rebecca. "Now I am doing my best to give back by using couponing as a way to gather food and supplies that can be donated to the Food Bank for distribution across North Dakota."  To learn more about available emergency food resources or to inquire about speakers for your community event please email us at greatplainsfoodbank@lssnd.org

Bremer Foundation Awards Grant
The Otto Bremer Foundation recently awarded the Great Plains Food Bank with a $40,000 grant to support rural outreach, ensuring those in underserved counties receive the help that they need.  Bremer has been a strong supporter of hunger relief efforts in North Dakota and western Minnesota, and continues to work with the Great Plains Food Bank to sustain outreach programs as well as start new initiatives.  Our thanks to this dedicated partner as we work together to help our hungry neighbors in need.  Pictured left to right are Brian Hagen, President of Bremer Bank - Fargo, Marcia Paulson - Great Plains Food Bank Director of Marketing and Development, Steve Sellent - Great Plains Food Bank Program Director, and Howard Barlow - Bremer Bank.

Hornbacher's Feeds Hope
In late fall, Hornbacher's approached the Great Plains Food Bank with an offer to create a fundraising campaign that would benefit our local neighbors needing assistance.  The Feed Hope campaign was launched in late November and ran through the end of December.  Hornbacher's asked their guests to donate $1, $3 or $5 to the Great Plains Food Bank, and the response generated over $33,000, the equivalent of 132,000 meals, to be used in the Fargo - Moorhead area.  Thank you to Hornbacher's, their Associates and customers who helped make this campaign a success!!
