Mobile Pantry Makes the Difference
The Great Plains Food Bank has been operating Mobile Food Pantries in cities throughout North Dakota for the past 2 years - distributing pre-packed food boxes off the back of the truck to people in need living in communities that don't have, or can't support a traditional food pantry.  Earlier this month, the Mobile Food Pantry rolled into Devils Lake.  The cars were lined up for more than 3 blocks, and the people had been waiting for up to an hour to get their food boxes.  Kurt and his mother, Mary, were patiently waiting in the line.  "Kurt has been without work for over a year," said Mary. "We have no income at all."  Both have made application to the social security office; however, until the Mobile Food Pantry arrived, they were wondering if they would have any food for Christmas.  When asked about their favorite part of the food boxes Mary beamed and stated, "The meat!"  To learn more about the Mobile Food Pantry program and to which cities we deliver click here.

They Did It Again
On behalf of the 67,000 people served by the Great Plains Food Bank and our partner network of charitable feeding programs, we extend our thanks to the student leadership of Fill The Dome 2011.  This team of students engaged the community and successfully collected 160,021 pounds of food and approximately $80,000 - providing food for 443,093 meals for our hungry neighbors in need.  The food and funds raised will be distributed by the Great Plains Food Bank and Hunger Coalition members to children, seniors and families residing in Cass and Clay counties and underserved communities across North Dakota.  To learn more about this incredible effort, click here
