Hello Marist Young Adults!
The summer is almost over and many of us are moving back into colleges or staring new adventures. I hope that you had a good summer and enjoyed some fun and relaxation!
I was blessed this summer to be able to spend a week walking in the footsteps of Fr. Champagnat at the Hermitage in France. What an amazing trip! I remember the first time I heard the stories of the dying Jean Baptiste Montagne, the Memorare in the Snow and the building of the Hermitage. To see the birth places of our Marist heritage was a breath taking and an inspiring journey that made these stories come to life. I strongly recommend this trip. A group from the United States will be returning to the Hermitage in the summer of 2014, so start saving now!
Here in the USA, there were a few barbecues, an evening in Bryant Park and a camping trip in Esopus this summer. You can read more about these events below. If you were not able to join us for any of these events, I hope that you will take the opportunity to reconnect during the year. The Marist Young Adult Advisory Committee will be making sure that there are plenty of opportunities.
Check out our website www.MaristYoungAdult.com for more information on events throughout the year. If you have any questions or a suggestion for an event please feel free to contact me at Matt@MaristYoungAdult.com.
Peace,
Matt Fallon

How did you get involved with Marist?
I became involved with the Marist community during my junior year of high school through the retreats at Central Catholic High School. Later that year I decided to attend the Marist Youth Encounter. I had an amazing experience on my encounter, and I knew it was something that I wanted to stay involved in. In the spring of 2011, during my senior year, I was asked to lead my first encounter. I was nervous at first, but I knew it was something I had waited an entire year to do. I lived the experience and it's something that I will remember for the rest of my life.
Why are you still involved with Marist community?
I am still involved with the Marist community because of the impact they made on me during my encounter. My experience was something I promised myself to share with as many people as I could.
How do you live out your Marist identity today?
I live out my Marist identity by staying involved with the Marist Young Adult Program. I also live out my Marist identity by sharing my wonderful Marist experiences with others, and by encouraging others to look into going on retreats and encounters.
