The Marist Evangelization Office launched its microsite this spring. The site features a chat room, a discussion board, a photo gallery and a blog function. The pilot group for the launch consisted of campus ministers and religion chairs who were invited to share resources and build an online community.  Vinny Caramele (Marist High School - Chicago) and Paty Daniels (St. Joseph Academy) were asked to blog about their experiences as a religion teacher and campus minister.   The Evangelization Office also offered online follow-up to participants of the spring Sharing Our Call and Sharing Our Call 2 programs.

Good Friday MIA
Prayer at the Good Friday Day of Reflection in Miami

Throughout the spring semester, the Marist Young Adult program continued to offer online and in person opportunities for individuals aged 18-30 to grow as Marist Christians.  Social, service and spiritual events were held in each region with a Marist presence.  Activities ranged from a Good Friday reflection day in Miami, FL to service days at the zoo and nursing homes in Brownsville, TX.  Chicago area young adults gathered for a concert and New York and New Jersey young adults engaged in a variety of spiritual and social events in Esopus, the Bronx and Roselle, NJ.  The entire community was brought together through an online Lenten retreat, daily reflections, and online chats on "The Hunger Games", Ash Wednesday and college success.  Events to welcome recent high school graduates are planned for each region.

The Marist Young Adult Program publishes a monthly newsletter, provides social networking through facebook, LinkedIn and twitter, and maintains a website.  A mobile app. is now in the beta testing phase and will be released soon.

About 300 individuals descended on Marist College during Memorial Day weekend to attend the "Power of Presence", the 2012 Marist Youth event.  Students from schools with a Marist presence in the United States, Mexico and Canada experienced Marist community through games, social activities and presentations.  Keynote speakers highlighted the life of Marcellin Champagnat and the vocation of being Marist, and challenged the group to spread the Marist message.  Workshops allowed the participants to experience a labyrinth, engage in initiative activities, learn about human trafficking and explore the role of media in faith.  The highlight of the weekend was a memorial prayer service commemorating the lives of the forty-eight brothers buried in the cemetery at Marist College
