Marist Young Adult Program
 April 2012

Dear Marist Young Adults,Chair

I hope April showers didn't drown the fun out of the beginning of spring!  With Easter and the semester coming to an end, this month seems to have flown by!

May brings some exciting things to our young adult world.  In each region the Marist Young Adult Advisory Committee will be reaching out to the graduating seniors from our schools to invite them to join us as Marist Young Adults. If you know some seniors, please feel free to invite them to the facebook group and

to check out our website, www.MaristYoungAdult.com. Of course, at the end of May, young adults will be serving the youth of our Marist family at the Marist Youth gathering at Marist College.

As many of you prepare for finals, be assured of the prayers and support of our

Marist family.

As always, if you have a suggestion or an idea for an event, please feel free to contact me at Matt@MaristYoungAdult.com.

Peace,

Matt Fallon

Chair, Marist Young Adult Advisory Committee

How did you get involved with Marist?
In high school, we were always surrounded by the Marist tradition and I was actively involved in campus ministry.  In my junior year I went on the Marist Youth Encounter but it was only after my high school graduation that I had the opportunity to be a leader at the Marist Youth Leadership Conference.  Wanting to continue my involvement with Marist, I soon began leading the Marist Youth Encouners.

Why are you still involved with Marist community?
I was raised understanding the importance of faith and service to others.  As I grew older, I wanted to continue developing my faith and give back to others; I was able to do just that through my involvement with the Marist community.  My Marist Youth Encounter was an incredibel experience not only because of the impact it had on me, but because I saw a whole new way in which faith and service could be carried out.  From this experience, I found a community of people who valued these same beliefs.  Through the Marist community I found so many other opportunities to continue my journey of faith and service while helping others on their own personal journeys.

How do you live out your Marist identity today?
I live out my Marist identity by sharing my experience with others.  I do this by leading Encounters when I can and by telling others about my Marist experiences.  You can just ask any of my friends!  I try to live out my Marist identity in my actions as well - not only to tell others about my experience but to lead by example.
