Merry Christmas Marist Young Adults!
December has been a busy month! From shopping and decorating to exams and traveling, young adults all over the world seem to have tons to do and not enough time!
Even Mary, Our Good Mother, took some time before the birth of Christ to get away and visit some family! What a wonderful example for us! I hope that you were able to take a few moments for yourself during Advent to watch the retreat videos or to attend the Advent Day of Reflection in NY or Miami.
In the coming months we have a lot of opportunities for you to reconnect and stay involved! Check out the Facebook page "Marist Young Adults" or our website, www.MaristYoungAdults.com, for updated information!
If you have a suggestion or any questions please feel free to email me at Matt@MaristYoungAdult.com.
Know that you are in the thoughts and prayers of all Marists around the world during this Christmas season and always!
Wishing you peace, joy and love,
Matt Fallon
Chair, Marist Young Adult Advisory Committee

ONLINE RESOURCE

"The Foundation for a Better Life began as a simple idea to promote positive values. We believe that people are basically good and just need a reminder. And that the values we live by are worth more when we pass them on." The Foundation's website, values.com, gives one the opportunity to pass on positive values. Visitors can post about their everyday heroes, send motivational e-cards, search for inspirational quotes and create their own billboards. ONLINE SERVICE OPPORTUNITY

One thousand babies are born HIV positive each day. Sister organizations (RED) and One believe that this number can be brought down to almost zero by 2015. To create awareness and to make this dream a reality, the two organizations are sponsoring (2015)Quilt. Drawing its inspiration from the AIDS Memorial Quilt, this digitally created quilt will be displayed at next year's International AIDS Conference and the Global Fund replenishment meeting.

How did you get involved with Marist?
During my sophomore year of high school I was asked to attend the Marist Youthg Leadership Conference. I had no idea what it was about, but I decided to give it a chance. I attended the conference and learned many things about the Marist tradition. I was immediately drawn to the Marist family and I was pleased to know that my school had a Marist foundation. It was then that I told myself that I wanted to help my school become more involved in Marist. I love the Marist Brothers because they make you feel like you ar part of a family. I, like many others, see the Marist property in Esopus as my second home.
Why are you still involved with Marist?
I am still inovlved with Marist because I see the good that they do. Marists help people who have lost their faith to find it again. To help someone see God is truly extraordinary. I have personally witnessed kids my own age discover who God really is simply by going on a weekend retreat. I have decided that I want to be a part of that. I want to help people find God in their lives and appreciate everything he has done for them.
How do you live out your Marist identity now?
I live out my Marist identity by helping others. I serve others just as Jesus served us. I volunteer at my school and in my community. I pray for all those who need prayers everyday - whether they ask for them or not. In the future I pan to use the education I have to become succesful and use my talents for good. The Marist spirit plays a vital role in my inspiration and I plan to do many great things.
