Hi Marist Young Adults,
March contains one of my favorite holidays, St. Paddy's Day! There are many reasons to celebrate on that day but we often forget a core reason: St. Patrick taught the Irish about God. Legend has it that in trying to explain the trinity, the concept of three persons in one God, St. Patrick used a shamrock to explain the difficult teaching.
The three-leaf clover, something which the Irish saw each day, became a way for the people of Ireland to better understand God. There are so many distractions in life that it is sometimes difficult to take advantage of what is right in front of us. Lent is a good time to let go of these distractions and pay attention to the little things.
As we prepare for Easter, I hope that you are able to take advantage of some of the things that the Marist Young Adult Program is placing in front of you: the online Lenten retreat, the upcoming Good Friday retreat in Miami, the Good Friday/Holy Saturday retreat in Esopus and the prayer wall and resources page at www.MaristYoungAdult.com.
If you have any comments, questions, or ideas please email me at Matt@MaristYoungAdult.com.
Peace,
Matt Fallon
Chair, Marist Young Adult Advisory Committee

MEET BRO. DAN O'RIORDAN NEW VOCATION DIRECTOR FOR THE MARIST BROTHERS

Bro. Dan currently serves as the Director of Development at Roselle Catholic High School in Roselle, NJ. During the summer, he will join Bro. Mike Sheerin in the Marist Brothers Vocation Office.
How do define vocation?
I believe each of is called by God to live out a certain vocation in our lives. In a nutshell, it is about responding or saying "yes" to an invitation by God to live our lives in a certain way.
What will your role be in vocation ministry?
I look forward to providing opportunities for high school and college aged young people to explore their call by God. I hope to do this by offering a number of opportunities for young people to join with some Marist Brothers for prayer experiences, service trips, and pilgrimages.
How do you see yourself collaborating with the Marist Young Adult Program?
I look forward to taking part in many of the great programs that are already offered as well as getting to know many of you. I also hope to post some blogs and other materials on your website and facebook page. I will also post invitations to events and opportunities that our office of vocations will be sponsoring.
